It's a happy Christmas for Maiqui Pineda and Robi Domingo after Maiqui received her latest health update. Just a few weeks before 2024 ends, Maiqui shared one of the greatest news she could ever receive this year. She declared that she is now in clinical remission.

"The best early Christmas gift we could ever ask for—my doctor officially told me that I’m in clinical remission. Clinical remission means that the signs and symptoms of my autoimmune disease are now barely detectable, even if the disease may not be completely cured. In short—I'M OKAY!" Maiqui began in her post.

The 33-year-old detailed that it was in November when she first heard about her latest health update. In fact, she was described as a "Christmas miracle," according to her doctors.

By the end of her IG post, Maiqui stressed how she has a lot planned for 2025. Maiqui also made sure to express her love and gratitude for everyone who has been with her throughout her health journey. "I'm beyond grateful for this gift and for the prayers and support that helped me keep going. Please know it made a difference so THANK YOU! I have big plans for 2025, but for now, it's time to enjoy the holidays with the people I love."

Maiqui Pineda's health journey

It was on August 3, 2023, when Maiqui first talked about her condition. She was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease called dermatomyositis.

She explained, "It sounds very technical, but to explain it in simpler terms: Dermatomyositis is a rare autoimmune disease that causes muscle weakness, inflammation, and a skin rash." Maiqui further described her condition, experiencing pain in her joints, dryness, and skin rashes on her hands and fingers, and feeling weak even when doing simple tasks like opening bottles.

"Showering was also tough because my finger rashes would be painful from washing my hair," she noted. Of course, with the hope of healing from the condition, Maiqui managed the pain by taking steroids and a couple of medical procedures.

The announcement of her health condition came months after she got engaged to her now-husband and TV personality, Robi. At the time, while Robi was the most supportive of Maiqui throughout her treatments, he once asked Maiqui if they should postpone their wedding to focus on Maiqui's health.

But Maiqui was determined to settle down with Robi, amid everything. "We talked about it. And honestly, because of her condition, I was the one who told her baka dapat i-delay natin nang konti, kasi medyo iniisip ko na 'yung health niya. And then, siya 'yung nagsabi na, 'Don't. Give me something to hope for," Robi divulged in an ABS-CBN News interview. The two got married in a Filipino-themed wedding in January 6, 2024 (almost a year already!).
