We can never get tired of too many rom-coms, right? That's why Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won are giving us another amazing and unforgettable romantic comedy this 2024! The two Korean actors will be leading the highly anticipated K-drama, Queen of Tears.
8 Things You Need To Know About Queen of Tears
1. It's not your typical rom-com.
Queen of Tears is not your usual rom-com. Although it will still be filled with romantic scenes, the couple will face all sorts of marriage woes from the very beginning of the drama.
Soo Hyun and Ji Won will portray a married couple experiencing ups and downs in their committed relationship. In fact, it was revealed in one of its teasers that Soo Hyun's character will be asking for a divorce from Ji Won!

2. Queen of Tears offers a stellar cast.
Aside from Soo Hyun and Ji Won's first-ever pairing, Queen of Tears catches the attention of viewers because of its writer. Park Ji Eun is responsible for the monumental K-dramas Crash Landing On You, My Love From The Star, and The Producers. Two of her works were top-billed by Soo Hyun as well!

Money Heist: Korea star Lee Joo Bin, Vincenzo actor Kwak Dong Yeon, and Park Sung Hoon from The Glory will also be joining Queen of Tears. It's still not clear how deeply their characters will be involved in Baek Hyeon Woo (Soo Hyun) and Hong Hae In's (Ji Won) lives.
What we know is that Dong Yeon and Joo Bin seem to be a couple, too. They are reportedly the opposite of Soo Hyun and Ji Won in the drama.
Sung Hoon will portray the role of Yoon Eun Sung, a cold but famous and talented businessman. He will be investing in Ji Won's company in the drama, despite the many offers from other companies. Sung Hoon's character adds more mystery to the plot!

3. Kim Soo Hyun acts as a lawyer in this drama.
We've seen Soo Hyun play all sorts of roles in the past decade. He went from being an aspiring K-pop idol in Dream High to an undercover agent in his movie Secretly, Greatly, and then a psychiatric ward nurse in It's Okay To Not Be Okay.
This time around, Soo Hyun will be portraying a lawyer. He will be Baek Hyeon Woo, legal director of the Queens Group, one of the largest conglomerates in South Korea. But will he stay diplomatic and calm even after marrying the heiress of the company he's working for?

4. Kim Ji Won stars as the "queen."
The heiress we were previously talking about is Ji Won's character, Hong Hae In. She will be known as the "queen" among her peers and the employees of their company. Her moniker comes from a lot of reasons, but mainly due to her sassy attitude and her social and economic status. However, her cold persona will soften once she meets Hyeon Woo.
Ji Won may have gained more prominence for her groundbreaking role as the military doctor Yoon Myeong Joo in Descendants of the Sun. But she was actually among the roster of then-rookie stars who made it big right after the iconic K-drama, The Heirs!

5. Kwak Dong Yeon is Kim Ji Won's brother in the drama.
First of all, we love the comedic Dong Yeon. He can slay any genre, actually. In Queen of Tears, he acts as the inferior and defensive Hong Su Cheol, Hae In's brother. Su Cheol is the exact opposite of his sister. He is not good in business and has the lowest ranking in their family. One thing that he is good at is his relationship with his spouse, Cheon Da Hye—which for Hae In is her personal struggle after marriage.

6. Lee Joo Bin is a well-loved in-law.
Joo Bin gives life to Cheon Da Hye, Su Cheol's wife. Since Su Cheol despises his sister, he marries someone who is the complete opposite of Hae In. Da Hye is a good-mannered and elegant young lady. She maintains a happy and good relationship with Su Cheol and his family, making her a well-loved in-law.

7. The teaser posters give us a second-chance romance feel.
Queen of Tears will mostly revolve around Hyeon Woo and Hae In's love story and how they navigate through the difficulties of married life. It looks like, after three years of being husband and wife, the couple will reignite a heightened sense of affection towards each other.
Its official posters have given viewers a hint of how the drama will run, and it seems to be a second-chance romance. Written on its posters were several painful and hopeful lines, translated by Soompi. "We married because we were in love, but why don’t we love each other after getting married?" and "Right this moment, a love story that is miraculously starting anew." Now, we're really curious about what kind of "miracle" will occur between the two of them.

8. Queen of Tears will stream on Netflix!
The tvN drama will be available for its international viewers exclusively on Netflix. Queen of Tears will air on March 9, 2024, at 9:20 PM Korea time, and will be streaming by 9:20 PM Manila time every Saturday and Sunday. See you on Netflix!
