If you've ever been to Singapore, then you know that Sentosa is just one of those tourist attractions you *need* to visit at least once. One of the most iconic structures at the island resort is the giant Merlion statue—we know you've got a tita with an entire Facebook album dedicated to just this one attraction. It was designed by an Australian sculptor named James Martin and cost $8 million to build in 1995. While there are several Merlion statues peppered all over Singapore, Sentosa is home to the tallest one, standing tall at 37 meters or 121 ft.

So yes, that means the one right by Fullerton Hotel is still there! ;)

If you're wondering why we have to say goodbye, it's because Sentosa is getting a little facelift: Singapore will be building a themed linkway connecting the north and south shores of the island. And the entire project is estimated to cost around $90 million. The Sentosa Merlion will stop operations on October 20, 2019.
