Hi, hello! If you're reading this, you're probably one of the many people who got bit by the ~gardening bug~ this quarantine. We don't blame you, though. Not only is it super relaxing to care for them, but they also have a ton of health benefits! If you're just a beginner plantita, though, you might find their many varieties to be overwhelming. Don't worry, you can definitely start with something smaller. Enter: Succulents. Not only will they add some color in your home, but they thrive on very little water, so it's the perfect low-maintenance starter plant. Below, some tips on how to take care of them:

Tips on caring for succulents

  • Start with the right kind of succulent. Contrary to popular belief, not all succulents are meant to be grown indoors. Check out this list to see which one would be best suited for your home.
  • Make sure they get enough sun. Generally speaking, succulents need about six hours of sunlight to keep them healthy, so your best bet would be placing them on your windowsill. (They'd make cute decor, too!)
  • Douse them in water. Even though they thrive with little water, they *still* need to be hydrated (as all plants do). Make sure to water them every week, but don't do it daily—that's the easiest way to kill them.
  • Allow the soil to dry out before watering your succulents again. During their weekly "bath," make sure to completely soak their soil until water comes out of the pots. Then, wait for the soil to be bone dry before watering them again.
  • Don't overcrowd them. We know it can be hard to resist lumping all your cute little succulents together in one corner, but make sure to space them out to allow each one to properly get the right amount of water and food they need.
