Guess what? You get to commute for FREE tomorrow, March 8, Friday, simply by virtue of being a fun, fearless, fabulous woman. Yes, you read that right. To celebrate YOU, MRT-3 and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority’s (MMDA) Pasig River Ferry are letting women ride for FREE.

These freebies are aligned with the celebration of International Women’s Day and the Philippines’ Day of Women’s Rights. The MRT-3 line is granting these free train rides to all female commuters from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., said a report on GMA News Online. And, not one to fall behind, the MMDA’s Pasig River Ferry is also celebrating women and giving us FREE ferry rides all day, says the Philippine Information Agency (PIA)The Pasig River Ferry is open from 6:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. and sails from Guadalupe Station until Plaza Mexico Station in Intramuros, Manila.

The MRT freebie is perfect because the inclusive hours of the train freebie are peak rush hours. This makes contending with the commute crowd a tiny bit more bearable. On the other hand, with all that’s happening in Manila tomorrow for International Women’s Day, a free boat trip to Manila on the Pasig River Ferry will ease our FOMO. The freebie allows us to sail right to the heart of all the action.

This week has been a busy week for women. The first week of March is officially Women’s Week, and March 8 is International Women’s Day, the Philippines’ Day of Women’s Rights, and International Day of Peace, under proclamation 224 s. of 1988. Women should expect many more perks like this for the rest of the month as well, since according to proclamation 227 s. of 1988, the entire March is National Women’s Month.

While we think women already have superpowers for braving the daily commute in office skirts, heels, and plakado makeup (among many many other fabulous feats), some extra TLC is always welcome. So, thank you MRT-3 and Pasig River Ferry! Enjoy your train/ferry ride and happy Friday, girls!
