Say it isn't so! ICYMI, Korean actors IU and Lee Jong-suk have confirmed that they've ended their relationship after four years of dating. They first confirmed they were dating back in 2022, after almost a decade of being acquaintances and friends.
Yes, they lived out the friends-to-lovers trope! So it's understandable why fans of both actors were heartbroken to hear the news of their breakup.
IU and Lee Jong-suk Part Ways But Decide To Remain Good Colleagues
The breakup was confirmed in a statement released by their agencies on July 10. Translated by Soompi.com, it reads: "It is true that they broke up," adding that they have decided to remain good colleagues.
When they first confirmed their relationship in 2022, the two had nothing but good things to say about each other. IU described Lee Jong-suk in a letter to her fans at the time: "He is a reliable and cute person who has supported me for a long time, always told me I'm amazing, and sent me sincere encouragement."
Lee Jong-suk, for his part, described IU as an "amazing person" who inspires him to become a better man.
Professionally, both stars remain busier than ever. IU has had quite a year in 2026, starting with her successful drama Perfect Crown opposite Byeon Wooseok. She's currently preparing for a new album and a concert, so the rest of her year remains packed and busy.
Meanwhile, Jong-suk is preoccupied filming his upcoming Disney+ series, The Remarried Empress, top-billed by Our Blues and Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha star Shin Min-ah.
