If you’re the kind of girl who never exercises and thinks you look awkward in workout wear, listen up: Adidas came up with what they call the “greatest running shoe ever,” and you will want to give it a try even if you cannot run to save your life.
We don’t typically do high-tech shoe speak in Cosmo, but here’s how we’d explain Adidas UltraBoost's features for all you running shoe virgins:
What’s In The Shoe? “Ultra Boost features the highest Energy Return cushioning in the running industry.”
What It Means: Expect a spring in your step when you walk in them. You know that ~amazing~ feeling you get when you run into your crush and you actually say something witty? Yep. This is a reenactment of that, but on your feet.
How It’s REALLY Relevant: It’s like walking in heels—your posture improves, your butt is perkier, and your ponytail bouncier.
What’s In The Shoe? “The innovative Primeknit pattern of Ultra Boost provides comfortable support in less expansive areas of the foot and adaptive stretch where it’s needed to deliver maximum comfort.”
What It Means: Since a runner’s foot can remarkably expand up to 10 mm or more in width while running, the physical expansion can cause severe discomfort if the shoe won’t allow room for it. This is also why you should buy shoes at the end of the day, because that’s when your feet are biggest. You won’t have to worry about blisters or cramped toes with UltraBoost, because the entire shoe is wrapped in an elastic knitted material that stretches with your movement.
How It’s REALLY Relevant: You will NEVER get tired of walking around in a mall!
What’s In The Shoe? “A carefully tuned external heel counter comfortably cradles the foot and adapts to the high extension of the Achilles.”
What It Means: According to WebMD, your Achilles tendon is a springy band of tissue at the back of your ankle and above your heel. It allows you to extend your foot and point your toes to the floor, and if you injure it, it becomes swollen and may even cause your foot’s natural arch to collapse (Ouch!). In the UltraBoost, you’ll see an external cap wrapped around the heel part of the shoe, and it actually prevents all this from happening.
How It’s REALLY Relevant: We will secretly stash these shoes under our desks for the ultimate shoe swap at the end of a very long work day wearing killer heels.
So enough of the high-tech features. Can we talk about how classy and versatile it is?! The unisex shoe only comes in one color, ~*twilight*~, and that in itself already convinced us that we love it.
P.S. They picked this color because the makers took inspo from urban runners’ peak times—either very early in the morning, or just when the sun sets. But if you ask us, we’ll wear this the whole day—and maybe, just maybe, we'll be forced to actually go for a run.
Adidas Ultra BOOST will be available at leading adidas stores and select retailers starting February 25 at P8,295.
