Rocker Chic: Pretty Pinays At The Laban Ni Maria Concert

Cosmo asked fasyon femmes what other women's issues need further attention aside from cervical cancer.
Cervical cancer is the second highest cause of death among women in our country and to increase awareness that this deadly disease can be prevented by vaccine, The Francis M. Clothing Company and MTV, in cooperation with GlaxoSmithKline organized "Laban Ni Maria: Rocking Against Cervical Cancer” concert and fashion show last September 23 at Eastwood. Bands like Imago, Pupil, and Brigada, plus the son of the late Francis Magalona, Elmo Magalona rocked the crowd with their live performances for the sake of the fight against cervical cancer.

Fashion played a big role in this event, as one of the highlights that night was a fashion show that showcased Laban Ni Maria shirts by 3 Stars And A Sun to promote and encourage everyone to purchase the special edition graphic shirts. For every shirt purchased, P80 will be donated to Bravehearts foundation, who will in turn use it to provide vaccines to indigent women who cannot afford it.

This event is just one of many examples how fashion and beauty can help make a BIGGER difference in the lives of women--people--everywhere. And we challenge Cosmo chicks to be active in such advocacies, especially those that cater to your fellow women. So we asked the fasyon chicks we spotted rocking at the event: What other women’s issues do you think need further support and attention?143
