When I first tried horse oil, I was skeptical about it. I thought it was another gimmicky Korean beauty product that would just end up irritating my skin. But to my surprise, it was one of the best facial oils I've ever tried—and it's been a part of my nighttime skincare regimen ever since!
So what makes it worth a try (and a repurchase)? Read on.
What is ~*horse oil*~?
The oil is extracted from the fat of the horses used for meat—yes, some Asian and European countries eat them as a regular meal or a delicacy. This practice is meant to make sure that nothing goes to waste.
Do you still need a bit more convincing? Here are a few reasons why you should include horse oil in your regimen ASAP:
It moisturizes while fighting pimples.
According to Elle, horse oil contains an essential fatty acid called linolenic acid, also known as vitamin F. It has anti-inflammatory and moisturizing properties, which means it can help fight pimples and prep the skin for other ingredients.
It works for all skin types.
It's lightweight, so it won't clog pores. If you have a drier skin type, you can apply more than one drop. For those with oily or acne-prone skin, a single drop for the whole face can already work.
It will keep your skin hydrated for a longer period.
The linolenic acid in the product will help repair your skin's barrier, allowing it to retain more water and restore its oil + moisture balance.
