Siargao. It's been described as one of the best islands in Asia, alongside Boracay and Palawan. No wonder people keep coming back to Siargao. Some even visit the island just to move on from a breakup.
A lot of celebs have spent many a vacay in Siargao, like James Reid and Nadine Lustre, who celebrated their second anniversary there. They've also been coming back with friends to enjoy the island life. We've seen Solenn Heussaff and Kelsey Merritt posting their surfing snaps, too. And remember Siargao, the movie?
It seems like anywhere you go in Siargao, you'll end up with an Instagram-worthy shot. Andi Eigenmann, who has been living on the island for a while now, has shared before how blessed she is to "live in paradise."
But today, Andi shared a totally eye-opening and shocking post about Siargao. "The side of Siargao you don't see," she captioned the IG story.
The photo features the mountain of trash on the island, as shared by Rafael Nogalo, a Siargao local and surf instructor. His post has now earned more than 1,500 likes as of this posting. He even has a video to give you a saddening 360-degree view of Siargao's waste problem. It's seriously disturbing.
"While tourists sip cocktails on Siargao's picture-perfect beaches, mountains of rubbish are piled in our back roads, poisoning the groundwater and creating irreversible damage to our beloved island home. Is this the number one island in Asia? The real beauty behind #siargaoisland. More tourists, more business, more trash!" Rafael shared in his post.
Recently, Andi shared photos from her beautiful maternity shoot in Siargao. In the past, she has described Siargao as her daughter Ellie's "giant playground." She's also been a huge fan of surfing, even doing the sport as a form of exercise while pregnant.
