At 33, Bea Alonzo has achieved success in her acting career that many could only dream of. She's an award-winning actress, a box office queen, and undoubtedly a superstar in every right. But in a career move that surprised many, Bea left her home network of 20 years, ABS-CBN, and signed with GMA-7 yesterday, July 1.

That very night, Bea uploaded a video on her YouTube channel titled New Beginnings, and addressed her fans and supporters about her big decision to leave her longtime home. She started out the vlog by reminiscing her start in ABS-CBN as a wide-eyed teenager who looked up to Judy Ann Santos. Bea revealed she made many sacrifices just to reach her dreams, like quitting school and missing out on many milestones and celebrations for herself and her family.

Bea became emotional and even shed a few tears as she thanked the many people in ABS-CBN who helped her throughout her 20-year journey. Special figures whose pictures were part of the heartwarming montage were Johnny Manahan, Cathy Garcia-Molina, John Lloyd Cruz, Ian Veneracion, Enchong Dee, Anne Curtis, Angelica Panganiban, and Angel Locsin, to name a few.

Why Bea Alonzo moved to GMA-7

Bea spoke in detail of why she chose to move to the Kapuso network, which essentially is a result of her self-reflection during the pandemic. Bea wanted change and now, more than ever, she was ready for it.

This is Bea's story on her brand new beginning with GMA-7:

"Many months ago, I was presented an opportunity by GMA-7 to do teleseryes for them—a place I hadn't even set foot in, a place that is not my comfort zone. For many months, I have reflected on so many things about my life. I have also embraced many changes in my life. And after many months of reflection, and now, negotiations, we have reached a decision.

"I am an actress. I am here to create. That is my purpose, and that is my task. I owe that to my audience. And though goodbyes are always painful, I know that this journey will lead me to a door of many opportunities and new learnings and growth. Change is always scary but it can also be beautiful.

"Today, kapag napanood niyo ito, most likely, nakapirma na ako sa GMA-7. And the reason why I am doing this video, I wanted you guys to hear it from me directly because you are important to me and I owe you that much. And I am hoping that sana kasama ko pa rin kayo as I embark on this new adventure. You know, this decision is both exciting and terrifying for me. But if there is anything that this pandemic has taught me, it is that you only live once. Life is short and you have to do things that make you feel alive. And that, to me, is chasing my dreams and performing my purpose.

"So, from here on out, you will be seeing me in the Kapuso network doing shows for them and doing teleseryes for them. And to be honest, I am beyond excited to show you what I have to offer, to show you the other talents that I have...because I feel na sa totoo lang na I am more open now. I think that I'm growing. I feel I have learned so many things in the past year, siguro kagaya ninyo. I feel more empowered and I feel like I am ready for change. At sabi nga nila, we only regret the chances that we did not take. So this is me, seizing the moment, opening new doors to great opportunities.

"This is me, this is my reality, this is my truth. And here's to new beginnings."
