On October 2, Jawsh 685, Jason Derulo, and BTS released “Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat)”, with the K-pop boy group adding their own spin to the TikTok-famous song. The track ranked no. eight last week on the Hot 100, and is now reigning at the top of the chart. ARMYs now: did somebody, did somebody make your day? Because same!
ICYDK, the Hot 100 is where the most popular songs in the United States are ranked, in terms of sales data, radio airplay, and streaming. According to Billboard, BTS’ remixes took a big chunk of the song’s overall sales, while Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo’s version dominated the overall radio airplay. As for the overall streaming, it was distributed evenly with or without BTS’ version.
On the other hand, “Dynamite” is now on its seventh week at the number two spot on the Hot 100. The all-English track is now chillin’ on the said chart for four weeks at number two, and three weeks at number one. Last month, BTS wowed everyone when they became the first all-Korean act to land on the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100. ARMYs, let us all sing: Your one, your two~
Now with two songs concurrently at the top spots, BTS is the first group to achieve this milestone since 2009. During that year, it was The Black Eyed Peas' ”Boom Boom Pow” and “I Gotta Feeling” that took over the chart for four weeks. Aside from them, it was only the OutKast, the Bee Gees, and The Beatles (all legends, you guys) who were able to achieve this milestone. We guess the boys ~are in the stars tonight~ after this success!
