Gone are the days when lead female movie characters ~give up everything~, even their jobs, for love. These past decades in film have introduced us to strong career women with their own goals! Here are four fictional characters who never gave up on their individual dreams:

1. Basha in One More Chance (2007)

People love to joke that Basha (Bea Alonzo) first broke up with Popoy (John Lloyd Cruz) because he wouldn't allow her to eat chicken skin. The truth is, Basha hated her job and also had doubts about her relationship with Popoy because they were so co-dependent. He tried to solve her problems even if she never asked him to (e.g. the chicken skin situation). When Basha couldn't bear it anymore, she breaks up with Popoy and resigns from the firm where they both work, he as an engineer and she as an architect.

Memorable line: "Gusto ko magkaroon ng buhay, gusto ko magkaroon ng trabaho na alam ko kung ano'ng halaga ko. I want to want things on my own, hindi dahil sa tingin mo 'yon yung makakabuti para sa ating dalawa."

2. Bobbie in Four Sisters And A Wedding (2013)

Before she became a Corporate Communications Manager in New York, Bobbie (Bea Alonzo) was in a relationship with rocker and band member Chad (Bernard Palanca). When she flies back to the Philippines, she finds out her sister Alex (Angel Locsin) is Chad's new girlfriend. Alex defends their relationship, saying, "Nag-break kayo dahil iniwan mo siya. Pinagpalit mo sa trabaho mo sa Amerika!"

Memorable line: "Do not use your supposed stupidity as an excuse for all the pain you've caused me. Hindi talino ang kulang sa'yo, Alexresponsibilidad at respeto sa pagiging magkapatid natin."

3. Ginny in Starting Over Again (2014)

After turning down his marriage proposal, Ginny (Toni Gonzaga) breaks up with Marco (Piolo Pascual) and goes to Barcelona, Spain to study without leaving any explanation. She runs into him again four years later.

Memorable line: "I was beginning to see my father in you. Talunan, mababa ang pangarap. Marco, paano ko sasabihin sa'yo 'yon? Na unti-unti nang nawawala yung paghanga ko sa'yo, yung respeto ko? Natakot ako maging katulad tayo ng nanay at tatay ko."

4. George in The Hows Of Us (2018)

In the film, George (Kathryn Bernardo) is struggling to provide for both herself and her boyfriend Primo (Daniel Padilla). She juggles working as a sales representative and studying for the NMAT (National Medical Admission Test) while Primo pursues his passion for music. All the pressure and fatigue get to her, which leads to an epic fight between the couple.

Memorable line: "Pagod na 'kong magmukhang tanga. Pagod na 'kong mapag-iwanan. Pagod na 'kong bitbitin ka. Pakiramdam ko, sinasayang ko lang ang buhay ko sa relasyong 'to."
