Khalil Ramos is a multi-talented artist and one of the newest GMA-7 stars! After transferring from his longtime home ABS-CBN, Khalil is making his mark as a Kapuso talent with a slew of exciting projects coming up, one of which is the mini-series Love You Stranger.
Before he makes his GMA series debut, here are 10 super-cool things to know about Khalil Ramos:
1. Khalil Ramos was born on January 22, 1996!
Here's a cute throwback to his 25th birthday celebration this year:
Khalil's first love is singing and he actually started performing when he was only five. In an interview with GMA's Tunay Na Buhay, he spoke of his first-ever performance during his kindergarten graduation: "My very first performance in front of a large crowd was when I was five years old. Kindergarten graduation namin 'yon e. Siguro my teachers noon saw how I really liked singing and performing and entertaining people. I was a kid pa lang, I loved telling stories through this medium."
Khalil started joining singing contests when he was in high school and one of the biggest ones was for ABS-CBN's Pilipinas Got Talent. His journey in the talent competition was a success 'cause he won second place!
Shortly after Pilipinas Got Talent, Khalil landed his first TV role in the teleserye Princess And I in 2012. As most of us know, that show was the start of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla's love team.
Khalil bagged a number of supporting roles in mainstream and indie films throughout the years, like She's Dating The Gangster (2014), Kid Kulafu (2015), and Honor Thy Father (2015). But it was in the Cinema One Originals 2 Cool 2 Be Forgotten that got Khalil his first lead role. His performance in the 2016 coming-of-age film even brought him his most prestigious acting nomination to date: a Best Actor nod at the Gawad Urian Awards.
Speaking with GMA about 2 Cool 2 Be Forgotten, Khalil shared that he "had to put so much work in that film. Talagang [I had to] drop everything and work on the character ako noon e. Siyempre it was my first lead role, I wanted to make a mark of course. I was full-on na I wanna be an actor. I wanna be a film actor."
5. He moved to GMA-7 in 2020.
After almost a decade of being a Kapamilya, Khalil officially became a Kapuso star in October 2020. I can't be more grateful for @artistcenter & @gmanetwork for welcoming me with open arms!! I've been feeling nothing but love and kindness from everyone! Nakakataba ng puso. Wohoo! So those first seven years were a really, really fun experience…it became more fun with my brother— nagkaroon ng ibang dynamic. Pero kasi my parents they're really just like best friends ko lang talaga sila."
He recounted a sweet memory with his mom and said, "I would remember, vivid memory siya when I was a little kid, my mom would always tell me that I'm your best friend, we're gonna do everything together, we're gonna explore the world together, we're gonna go to Disneyland together. So ganoon yung dynamic namin. And growing up, until now actually, our family dynamic is para kaming mag-best friend."
