Julia Barretto gamely dished about how she approaches her past relationships at her guesting on Tonight With Boy Abunda. In the interview she did with Block Z co-stars Ina Raymundo and Maris Racal, Julia answered the question of whether she can be friends with her exes without missing a beat.
"Yes. Parang walking example naman ako, 'di ba?"
She explained, "I can. Alam mo, depende 'yon sa inyong dalawa e. And I think that’s when you know when you’ve both truly moved on from each other. When you’re over that chapter in your lives. 'Yong kaya nyo nang maging magkaibigan and turn it into something beautiful."
Julia was also asked if she's the type who needs formal closures in her relationships. "Ako kasi Tito Boy, sometimes not having closure is closure already."
"Why are we gonna have closure and just tell each other what went wrong, how it’s gonna—let’s just ride the tide."
In 2019, Julia confirmed her breakup with then on-screen love team Joshua Garcia, saying that they are the 'best of friends.' She shared in an interview with ABS-CBN News: "For now, babalik muna kami sa pinagsimulan namin. We managed to be the bestest of friends and if the fans are worried, we can assure them that there is nothing to worry about. JoshLia is very much alive."
In January, however, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Julia has unfollowed both Joshua and his The Killer Bride co-star Janella Salvador on Instagram. Still, a few days before that, Joshua clarified in an interview with ABS-CBN News that he and Julia are okay. Julia even added: "That’s one of the things that I’m super grateful for, is that we were able to protect and make sure that the friendship will stay and remain."
