Here Are All The Must-Watch Films For This Year's Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino

Are you ready for stories about millennial vloggers, aspiring musicians, and feisty sex workers?

This year's Pista Ng Pelikulang Pilipino, which aims to showcase independent and mainstream films alike, will take place on September 11 to 17! Here are all the full-length films that are part of the 2019 lineup: 

1. Cuddle Weather 

The stars: Sue Ramirez and RK Bagatsing 

The sitch: Two sex workers named Adela and Ram become "cuddle partners." The teaser trailer shows Adela giving Ram tips on what names to use, depending on who the client is. We also see Adela arguing with a client, where she says, "Ang baba ng tingin niyo sa 'kin, e lahat naman tayo pokpok. 'Yung iba nga lang, pokpok sa pag-ibig."

2. G!

The stars: McCoy De Leon, Jameson Blake, Paulo Angeles, and Mark Oblea

The sitch: This barkada movie follows a group of friends as they share a series of good times, bad times, and cherished bonding moments.

3. I'm Ellenya L. 

The stars: Maris Racal and Iñigo Pascual

The sitch: This very millennial movie tells the story of Ellenya (Maris), a girl who dreams of becoming a vlogger and influencer and who constantly seeks validation online. Along with her best friend (played by Iñigo), she tries to create an *interesting-looking* life for herself, even using sand and water to pretend like she's at the beach!

4. LSS 

The stars: Gabbi Garcia and Khalil Ramos

The sitch: Sara, an aspiring musician, and Zak, a hopeless romantic, keep encountering each other as they follow indie-folk band Ben&Ben. The two are struggling dreamers in their 20s who are in the process of "growing up."

5. Open 

The stars: JC Santos and Arci Munoz

The sitch: Rome (Arci) and Ethan (JC) have been together for 14 long years. When the two begin to feel that their relationship is getting ~boring~, they explore the idea of being in an open relationship and agree that they are allowed to have sex with strangers.

6. The Panti Sisters 

The stars: Paolo Ballesteros, Christian Bables, and Martin del Rosario

The sitch: Three gay sons are called back by their estranged and *dying* father. They're given an offer they can't refuse: a P100 million inheritance in exchange for each of them giving him a biological grandchild.

7. Watch Me Kill 

The stars: Jean Garcia and Jay Manalo

The sitch: A female assassin's plan is foiled when she discovers certain secrets about her next target. 

The next three films are part of the festival's Sandaan showcase, in celebration of Philippine cinema's 100th year annviersary: 

8. Circa 

The stars: Anita Linda, Gina Alajar, Laurice Guillen, Jaclyn Jose, Elizabeth Oropesa, Ricky Davao, Enchong Dee, with the special participation of the late Eddie Garcia

The sitch: For her 100th birthday, Doña Atang (Anita Linda) wants to reunite with all the actors and staff that she has worked with in the past as a famous film producer. She is also looking for an unfinished film from one of her directors. Her grandson Michael (Enchong) sets on a quest to find them.

9. Lola Igna 

The stars: Yves Flores, Meryll Soriano, and Ma. Isabel Lopez

The sitch: Lola Igna is a foul-mouthed and stubborn woman who is eager to die. Her neighbors, however, want her to win the title "oldest living grandmother in the world" really badly! 

10. Pagbalik 

The stars: Gloria Sevilla, Suzette Ranillo, and Vince Ranillo

The sitch: According to Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino, this film tells the story of "a troubled OFW who is forced to return home and come to terms with the family she left behind."
