WARNING: *Major* spoilers ahead for Record Of Youth! Don't read if you haven't seen the latest episodes yet.
And so it is: Record Of Youth wrapped up last night with its highest ratings yet. In my opinion, the hit coming-of-age drama couldn't have had a better (read: realistic) ending. Record Of Youth is a story of young dreamers and the last episode was a hopeful yet honest take on how Sa Hye Jun (Park Bo Gum), An Jeong Ha (Park So Dam), and Won Hae Hyo (Byeon Woo Seok) realized those dreams.

In the finale, Hae Hyo joined the Marines without telling his family. In his goodbye letter to his mom, he wrote that he was thankful for all the work she did to further his career which made him finally accept his privilege and be comfortable with who he is (aww). Hye Jun and Jeong Ha, on the other hand, had a mature and quiet breakup with Jeong Ha wanting to chase her dreams by herself. Hye Jun accepted her decision to be free from their relationship making him confront an unfinished "homework" of his: his looming enlistment. At the peak of his career, Hye Jun enlisted in the army. Two years later, he came back to his family and friends (yup, he's still BFFs with Hae Hyo) healthy as ever. Still signed with Jjamppong Entertainment, Hye Jun booked his newest project, a period drama. And here's where the feels rush in: On the set of his drama, Hye Jun and Jeong Ha, now a successful makeup artist with her own car and assistant, bump into each other and decide to go for a walk. While they were talking about each other's lives, there was this sincere comfort in their words—I personally didn't feel that they longed for each other or had any romantic feelings left. The series closed with them joking around and laughing like two old friends meeting after a long time.
*cries*
