Before A World Of Married Couple happened, the highest-rated K-drama in the history of Korean entertainment was the satirical series, Sky Castle. If you’re looking for a reason why you should binge-watch this gem, you can read our honest review right here. To know more about the reason behind its success, please do continue scrolling down.

Sky Castle revolves around affluent families—who live in the same community—with only one common goal: To make sure their children get accepted into the most reputable school in South Korea, Seoul University. They are willing to do everything (even if it's illegal) just to make this happen because if you’re a graduate of the said school, it elevates you to the top of the pyramid.

What made the drama mega-successful is that it’s a controversial portrayal of how South Korean parents are obsessed when it comes to their children’s education in real life. They prepare their children *intensely* for the most important day in their country, the suneung or the College Scholastic Ability Test. Once a student passes this exam with high marks and is admitted to any of the top three schools in South Korea, their future is said to be set. What are these top universities, you may ask? Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University—which explains the acronym “SKY” in SKY Castle

Seoul University

Founded in 1946, Seoul National University or SNU is “....the undisputed leader of higher education in Korea and has established a global reputation.”

Some of the notable alumni of SNU include Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si Hyuk, SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo Man, actress Kim Tae Hee, rappers Verbal Jint and Beenzino.
