Nope, it's not just your algorithm—people are suddenly more active. Maybe it's a mid- or quarter-life crisis, maybe it's post-pandemic cabin fever, or maybe it's the addictive dopamine and endorphin payoff. If you're perpetually online, you might have noticed people joining a run club—maybe one or two you have noticed found a partner (or situationship) through Strava, others are hopping on bikes and going to new destinations while beating PRs, while some are in their Pilates era, with a matching matcha latte as a post-workout treat. And now? Electric Studio—best known for turning indoor spin classes into sweaty dance parties—finally joins the Pilates trend with their new Core Reformer workout, available exclusively at their newest branch in Bonifacio Global City.

Electric Studio opens new BGC branch with Core Reformer and Rhythm Boxing

Electric Studio, one of the studios known for indoor cycling in the Philippines, now has four branches: Forbestown in Bonifacio Global City, The Podium in Ortigas, Molito in Alabang, and now, the newest branch at East Gallery Place in Bonifacio Global City. But plot twist: the new BGC branch doesn't even have bikes.

Instead, it's trading pedals for punches and planks. Electric Studio's East Gallery Place offers Rhythm Boxing (their second workout concept, launched back in 2022), and is currently the only spot where you can try Electric's latest modality of releasing endorphins and dopamine: Core Reformer.

If your idea or experience of reformer Pilates classes is a sunlit room, calming music, and the occasional whiff of an essential oil, you need to prepare for a 180-degree shift. Electric Studio's version of a reformer Pilates class is nothing like what you're seeing on your Instagram feed.

Picture this: A remote-controlled mood-lit room lined with 12 reformers (which look like Megaformers, the ones used for Lagree). There's a glowing neon sign on the wall that reads "SLOW IS STRONG," which is motivating... but turns oddly taunting once your muscles start shaking halfway through a 10-second hold.

For 50 minutes, you and other Core Reformer students get a low-impact, full-body workout on a reformer. As it is with Pilates, the focus is on slow, controlled movements that improve strength (especially core strength!), stability, and mobility—but what makes it very Electric Studio (aside from the ambiance) is the addition of high-intensity bursts and an energizing playlist curated by the instructor that will make you feel like you're going through a boot camp-cum-nightclub. It's contradicting things, but, hey, it works. Don't worry, the instructor will have a mic so you can still hear the instructions over the music.

As of writing, the types of Core Reformer class are limited to Pure Sculpt: "a musically guided reformer class that sculpts from the core out." There is no division of skill level into beginner, intermediate, and advanced. It's one class fits all, and the only way to know if this is your Pilates style is to hop on the machine, engage your core, chest out, hold, pulse, and try to power through the sets (hopefully without crying). With that said, do bring your own anti-slip socks, a towel, and a water bottle because you will need 'em.

But if you would rather release both happy body chemicals while releasing pent-up stress (a win-win situation in our book), Electric Studio's East Gallery Place branch has two types of Rhythm Boxing classes: Pure Rhythm and Box Burn. Pure Rhythm is an all-levels boxing class that punches with the beat of the music, plus strength building of medium to heavy weights; Box Burn is a 45-minute (10 rounds) high-intensity workout combining boxing and HIIT.
