Need to shed pounds stat? These simple mistakes can derail your progress.

All set for your beach getaway? Your bags are packed and your tickets are booked, but you can’t seem to get rid of those last stubborn pounds you’ve been trying to shed for the past month.

A quick fix for most people would be to crash diet. Sure you’ll lose a few inches around your waist for a few days, but how long can you keep it up without starving? Remember: Crash dieting can be counterproductive. Eating fewer calories slows down your metabolism which will cause you to gain weight faster when you binge eat. Honestly, do you really think you can resist that late-night Chori Burger run?

Skipping breakfast is also a big no-no. Missing the first meal of the day will cause you to eat more later on and will increase your chances of giving in to unhealthy snacks like chips and fast food. If you’re going to munch on in-between snacks, go for healthier options like fruits, yogurt, and pretzels.

Moreover, don’t be fooled by “low-fat” nibblers. Keep in mind that low-fat isn’t the same as low-calorie. Check the nutritional information of your food before consuming it.

Obsessing over your weight on a daily basis will only lead to frustration. Remember: there’s no magic potion. Just because you worked out like crazy today doesn’t mean you’ll wake up looking like a supermodel. Don’t torture yourself on the weighing scale every morning; instead, spend a few extra minutes in the gym.

And last but not least, avoid dehydration. Water is essential for burning calories so it would be wise to carry a bottle with you at all times.
