This 21-Year-Old Pinay Makes Six Figures Live-Streaming On Kumu

Rasbi, a student nurse, earns at least P100,000 a month.

Now that we're halfway through 2020, it's safe to say this year isn't going quite as planned. We've all had to adapt to our current situation, address the challenges it brings—both in our personal and professional lives—and possibly find new ways to earn. People started their food businesses, launched their YouTube channels, and looked for online jobs they could easily do from home. Rusbe Cris Ann Claveria or Rasbi, a 21-year-old student nurse, was looking for an online job when she came across an advertisement for Kumu, a live-streaming platform for content creators. In an email interview with Cosmopolitan, Rasbi said that the ~*first*~ time she tried Kumu, she had a rap session: "Though I am not a professional rapper, viewers were happy and [seemed to enjoy] it." The audience was so impressed by her freestyle rap that they started giving her "gifts." On Kumu, these virtual gifts "can be purchased through Kumu coins." People would have to cash in or load up to get those coins.

For Rasbi, each stream is different, but in a month, she earns anywhere from P100,000 to P250,000. Now that she doesn't have classes because of the pandemic, she streams twice a day (at 9:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.), six days a week (Monday to Saturday)

When asked about the money she earns, Rasbi admits that managing her finances is hard, but she makes sure to list down her monthly expenses: P10,000 for bills, P15,000 for school, P10,000 for groceries, P15,000 for her mom's maintenance, and P20,000 for her savings. The rest is for herself and her pamangkins

Rasbi has plans to diversify her content in the future, expressing her interest in beauty, food, and travel. She wants to try "makeup sessions" someday: "I really love Charlotte Tilbury. She is not only a makeup artist, but a founder and creative director of her own beauty and skincare brand." Rasbi also wants her own cooking show and reveals that locally, she admires Judy Ann Santos (Judy Ann's Kitchen) and internationally, Chef Gordon Ramsay. Once we're able to travel again, she's interested in acting as a tour guide for her viewers, taking people to beautiful Philippine spots like Palawan, Surigao, Bohol, and Vigan.
