If you're a ~tambay ng TikTok~ like I am, you've probably encountered the famous spicy pickled garlic snack on your #foryoupage. It was first posted by @lalaleluu, and since then, thousands of people have tried her concoction, too—and they *loved* it!
Since I'm not one to shy away from trying out weird food trends, I decided to make the snack as well. Keep on scrolling for my review:
Review: Spicy Pickled Garlic Snack from TikTok
- Pickled garlic (get the one with vinegar in it, not oil!)
- 1 teaspoon chili flakes
- Before creating the concoction, make sure to drain the vinegar out of the pickled garlic's bottle.
- Add in the sriracha, 1 teaspoon chili flakes, and thyme. You can add these in no particular order!
- Shake the bottle until all the ingredients are completely mixed together.
How's the taste of the spicy pickled garlic snack?
Since I love spicy and sour food, I had high hopes in the snack... and it totally delivered! For me, the sriracha and garlic were the flavors that stood out the most. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that the garlic cloves were still crunchy even after being in a bottle of vinegar.
You can definitely change up the mixture to your liking, whether it's adding more of the sriracha, thyme, or chili flakes, or even including another ingredient, as seen in this article!
Would I make another batch of the spicy pickled garlic snack?
Totally! Although I would maybe limit my intake to a few times a month since the salt content in the snack can be too much, especially if you add a lot of the sriracha. But on days where I want to ~treat~ myself, I'd definitely go for this.
