This month is all about being daring and bold here in Cosmo. So we dared sweet young actor Nico Ibaviosa to go sexy for us as this month's featured hunk. He's quite a familiar face to a lot of you, especially to our younger readers. Starting out as a member of Star Magic Batch 16, this college hottie has appeared in a number of commercials and TV shows, particularly the now-defunct TV5 teen drama series Lipgloss, where he portrays a hot swimmer. He's now part of another youth-oriented show in TV5 called BFGF, which airs every Sunday afternoon.
While some may dismiss him as just another new talent in the showbiz industry, Cosmo saw a different, quite interesting side to this 20-year-old cutie when we met him. Nico juggles a showbiz career with his studies, as he is now on his third year as an Industrial Engineering major in UP Diliman. But his multi-tasking does not stop there. He's also part of the Student Council and a member of the varsity swimming team.
This guy seems to be in his element when he's in the water, so for his first week as Online Hunk, we put him in a pool...wearing nothing but boxers. See him flaunt his hot swimmer body when you click through our gallery, and read his answers to the first batch of daring Cosmo questions. We promise to unveil more of Nico in the weeks to come.
Have you always wanted to enter showbiz?
Actually no, it’s never been one of my goals in life. But then, just one day, an opportunity came and I thought about it. I just seized the moment, sort of.
What do you really want to become?
I want to become an entrepreneur. I’m studying Industrial Engineering, so in the future I can work for a good company, get some funds from them, get some capital, and then start my own business eventually in the long run.
How has life changed for you since you entered showbiz?
Not a lot. I don’t think about it too much, now that I’m in showbiz, that it should change. Um, perhaps it would just be the occasional, you know, stares when we walk around different places. But then, other than that, everything is just the same.
Tell us about your Lipgloss experience, and what you will remember most about it?
My Lipgloss experience... Actually Lipgloss was my first show and it was a shock to me when I got there, since I didn’t really know what to expect. Perhaps the most memorable experience for me would be my second taping day, when they flew us to CamSur and everything was free. It was so fun--unlimited wakeboarding for like two whole days. So it was really fun. It was parang nagkukulitan lang kami, it didn’t feel like work at all.
Aside from swimming and school politics, what are you into?
My hobbies would include long boarding, photography, and playing the guitar.
What keeps you busy now?
School definitely. Especially now that I am in the Student Council, it keeps me busy a lot. It eats up most of my time.
How do you like to spend your day?
Studying (laughs). As dorky as it may sound, it’s actually something I have to do and I have to convince myself that this is what I want to do.
Do you still live with your parents? Are they supportive of your career?
Yeah definitely. First, yes, I do live with my parents, and yes, they are super supportive of whatever it is that I want to do.
Are you single or in a relationship?
I’m currently in a relationship.
For how long now?
Pretty long. Six years.
But who is your showbiz crush?
Well, I guess I’d have to say I find Erich Gonzales the prettiest.
Would you be willing to take on daring roles?
Um, not really. I don’t think it’s time for me.
