When we think about sex, rarely do we picture Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin getting frisky; we usually visualize Natalie Portman and Ashton Kutcher or Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake. That’s because amazing, explosive sex is usually associated with youth.
Despite popular belief, however, you don’t have the best sex (and the best orgasms) of your life when you’re young. In a survey conducted by contraceptive app Natural Cycles, in which they had 2,600 female participants, women ages 36 and above are the ones who have enviable sex lives!
What does that mean exactly? They had higher sexual satisfaction; they felt more attractive than their younger counterparts; and they had more incredible orgasms (in terms of quality and frequency).
Sex therapist Ian Kerner confirmed, “Many women I talk to in their late 30s and 40s feel like they know what turns them on or off, and that they can communicate that with their partner.” He added, “Older women are often in long-term relationships or marriages that are positive, that make them feel desired and confident. As women age, they develop more of the social and psychological supports to advocate for their own sexuality.”
