Let’s admit it. First dates can make you feel both excited and nervous. And while most choose to go all out on the preparations, a new study suggests that two people having a simple first date can still have some long-term potential.
The study, done by dating site PlentyOfFish, found out that “more than 65 percent of their former users went out for a meal or apps on their first date with the person who is now their spouse.” They also added that taking a walk or chatting over a cup of coffee can have a significant impact on how you two form your bond.
“Less is more when it comes to first dates,” says psychotherapist Katherine Schafler. “The less complicated the interaction is, the more likely it is for a potential partnership to emerge because you're not distracted, leaving you more able to focus on the other person, how you feel around them, and whether an attraction is building,” she added.
So the next time someone asks you out for a simple dinner in a fast food chain or a coffee date, don’t hesitate–you’ll never know if he’s The One you’ve been waiting for.
