Attending a wedding soon? Here's a guide to common wedding dress codes:
Black tie occasions require gents to wear tuxedos or dark three-piece suits. The ladies are expected to wear full-length gowns. These weddings are usually held in the evening, so sparkly jewelry, beaded dresses, and statement clutches are appropriate.
A formal affair requires gentlemen to wear a coat and tie, or a traditional barong. Ladies on the other hand, should wear long gowns. But if you're not into that, there are some short dresses made of satin, chiffon, and shantung silk that can pass for formal wear.
This one's common for garden or outdoor weddings. Women may come in mid-calf to knee-length dresses. For men, pants paired with a long-sleeved shirt will work, and wearing a tie is optional.
