There's nothing more romantic than marrying your partner under the warm sun, surrounded by all your loved ones. But you know what isn't romantic? Smearing, smudging, and melting makeup—which is totally possible if you're having an outdoor wedding this summer. I mean, have you been outside lately? Summer 2017 in the Philippines is not fooling around!
So if you want to look flawless from your wedding ceremony to the reception (and really, who doesn't?), here are the makeup tips to take note of:
Prep the skin well
You need to do ~three~ things to make your makeup look as smooth as possible: exfoliate, moisturize, and treat. First, go in with an exfoliating mask for 10 minutes to get rid of any dead skin cells. Once it's rinsed off, moisturize your skin to make it supple and smooth; then, slap on a sheet mask to add more moisture and glow to your skin! Doing these three steps will ensure that your foundations, primers, powders, and whatnot apply like butter on your skin.

Use a primer
Love 'em or hate 'em, primers are essential when it comes to makeup lasting longer than they should. If you have trouble with oiliness, like most Pinays do this time of the year, go for a pore-filling, sebum-controlling base. If you struggle with dryness, on the other hand, opt for a hydrating primer. Or you can even mix and match—most ladies need two or more primers for their skin!

Avoid heavy foundations
Going for heavy, cakey foundation will only make you feel uncomfortable during your wedding. Instead, choose lightweight formulas that are sheer but buildable. This way, you can dial up the coverage in specific parts of your face, instead of the ENTIRE THING.

Don't forget the setting spray!
While powdering your face is important to avoid annoying creases in your smile lines and undereye area, you don't want your makeup to look too flat. To bring back some dew (but not oil) into your bridal look, use a setting spray to take away that powdery, cakey effect. And if you're going to bake on your big day—and by bake, we mean your face!—do this right after.

It's all about layering
Whether it's with your brows to keep them on-point, or with your eyeliner to make sure it never smudges, or with your foundation to prevent it from melting off—when it comes to bridal makeup, it's really just about layering everything to make sure it stays put. With that in mind, don't be heavy-handed with your application—otherwise, you'll get an unappealing cake face!
