Angel Locsin: On How She Stays Fit And What She Would Be Doing If Not Showbiz

Passion is what got Angel Locsin to where she is now.

Regarded as one of the Philippines’ most sought-after female celebrities, she started her career as a model before landing one of the lead parts in GMA-7’s youth-oriented show Click. With a lot of determination and hard work, she later bagged several roles in the network’s fantasy soaps such as Darna, Majika, Asian Treasure, and Mulawin. In ABS-CBN, she also took centerstage in teleseryes with lead roles in Only You and Lobo, for which she got a Best Actress nomination at the International Emmy Awards. Angel also proved to be one of the most talented actresses in the film industry with films like Let the Love Begin, I Will Always Love You, and Mano Po 3.

But another thing that fans, men, showbiz-watchers, and her fellow stars (take Cosmo Online Hunk and Starstruck V's Steven Silva, for example) admire about 25-year-old Angel is her gorgeous, stunning body that makes her the favorite cover girl of leading men’s and women’s magazines (she was on the cover of Cosmo thrice). She's even in the running for the top spot in FHM Philippines' 100 Sexiest Women in the World list.

Cosmo caught up with Angel when she was launched recently as the new female celebrity endorser of Century Tuna at Annabel’s in Quezon City. Joining Derek Ramsay and the hot 2010 Superbods in promoting an active and healthy lifestyle, she shared with us how she’s able to maintain her fit and healthy body.

Angel has always been a natural sports lover; she was even a competitive swimmer before becoming a star. After joining showbiz, she got more active in challenging sports like Muay Thai, boxing, and diving. She said this helps her maintain a fit body for the action roles she plays on television. Lately, she's also into pole dancing, which she says is "in preparation for a role."

But this young, talented and sexy actress also has a good heart. She’s one of the few actresses who actively support women’s causes and other charitable institutions. No wonder when we asked what career would she have pursued if she weren’t a celebrity, she answered that she would be pursuing her life's greatest passion by being a preschool teacher in the province. Even if showbiz got in the way of college, she believes in the importance of education, and that’s what she wants to offer the kids in far-flung areas of the country with no access to proper schooling.
