After Frankie Pangilinan opened up on Tonight With Boy Abunda about her Boracay bikini photos, she posted another set of swimsuit pics to put the focus on “more important things we should all be discussing.” The singer posted on Instagram, “Hi! Whenever I post a swimsuit pic, it seems to get a little extra attention. I definitely don’t feel comfortable with that when there are so many more important things we should all be discussing.”
Holding a plastic bottle in the second pic below, Frankie said, “Avoid plastic bottles and straws. Recycle if you can’t (like me now abdjhsjahdhs).” She said, “Our farmers deserve better; try and buy from your local farms instead of going through a middle man. Vaccinate your kids. Register to vote. Donate to [World Wide Fund for Nature-Philippines].”
Frankie urged people to support local brands “because colonial mentality is bad enough and it shouldn’t get to ruin our economy. Don’t buy skin-whitening products.” She added, “Don’t body shame. Stay hydrated. Be kind. Those are just a few things I believe we should all try to keep in mind.”
In her TV appearance the other day, Frankie clarified that her parents, Sharon Cuneta and Francis "Kiko" Pangilinan, didn’t get mad over the bikini photos she posted last month. “I kind of had this conversation with my parents. I think it depends also on the intent of the photo. My only intent with this photo is that I’m at the beach. It’s my body, my tiger stripes and all. If girls can’t feel comfortable in their own body and if girls aren’t allowed to do what they want with their body, what kind of world am I growing up in?”
