Everyone following Heart Evangelista on Instagram knows just how much she loves dogs. Besides being the proud owner of fur babies, including her aspin Panda—who by the way, is as fashionable as her owner—, she is also very active as the celebrity ambassador of The Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).
Recently, Heart’s soft spot for dogs worked its charm again when she met a stray dog during one of her trips to Bicol. She shared on Instagram how she had to stop the car just to say hi to the puppy. She captioned a photo of her and the adorable fur baby with: "Earlier today, I saw this little angel on the street. I just had to stop my car to say hi. It’s amazing how even though no one has shown her kindness, it’s still their first language. When she saw me approaching her, she started wagging her tail already—how precious."
She also shared that she had to leave immediately because of her schedule, but that she had asked her friend to come and get it for her. Heart had it brought to her home and has named it 'Daba', which means 'mahal na anak' in Bicolano.
"I had to leave her after because of my schedule but because I couldn’t stop thinking about her, I had my friend go back and get her (thank you @hgmultitalented). I named her 'Daba,' which means mahal na anak in Bicol. I’ll be fostering her until she’s ready for adoption. I hope that she’ll soon find her forever home.”
Heart has always been an advocate of the #AdoptDontShop movement. In fact, her princess Panda was one of the many stray dogs that her father had saved before.
Earlier, Heart also gave a homeless man, Kuya Jun, his very own home after she met him on the streets. Heart was looking for her other dog Casper when she came upon the man who was sharing his food with other stray dogs. Touched by his actions, she and PAWSsion project—an animal rescue group—arranged to give Kuya Jun a home where he can be with his four-legged pals.
Heart’s a true angel to everyone, don’t you think?
