From 410,000 followers before Squid Game premiered, she currently has a following of *18.1 million* followers. She mostly posts behind-the-scenes pics from the Squid Game set, her various modeling projects, travels, and uh, random pics of cute animals (find the dog and sheep posts!).
Many may be surprised to know that her role as the North Korean defector and pickpocketer in the series was actually her first venture into acting.
Before Squid Game, Ho Yeon has actually been modeling since she was 16. She won second place in Korea's Next Top Model 4, was Models.com's 2017 Model of the Year, has landed gigs in Seoul Fashion Week, appeared on the covers of Vogue Japan and Vogue Korea, and was also listed as one of the top 50 models of the world.
In a 2018 interview, Ho Yeon revealed that she initially wanted to be a model with different talents, including acting. She even studied English to help her learn acting.
While she knew at that time that transitioning to acting would be a challenge, she believes anyone can achieve limitless things.
"I know it will be, but I just don't think that there's a limit for one person, because I heard that we couldn't even use the full potential of our brains. So, there's no limit."
Congrats, Ho Yeon!
