Kim Tae Hee captured our heart's in her comeback K-drama Hi Bye, Mama! as Cha Yu Ri, a ghost who gets a second chance at life to be reunited with her husband and daughter. The drama was definitely a tear-jerker and tugged at our heartstrings with each of its episodes. Now that the show finally wrapped up, Tae Hee shared that she channeled her character from her personal experiences as a wife to Rain and mother to their two young children.
According to Soompi, she said, "I kept motherhood and the love I have for my family, husband, and those around me as my focus."
"I also wanted to naturally portray Yu Ri's bright, simple, and positive personality," she added. "At the beginning, I met up with the director, writer, and my co-stars as often as possible to perfect Yu Ri's tone. I acted in accordance with Yu Ri's emotions and I followed that flow to naturally become like Yu Ri. The script was written in a manner where I could act while genuinely feeling the emotions."
But what about Rain's reaction to her drama, you ask? Well, Tae Hee was surprisingly candid about what her husband thought! "My husband just said that he couldn't watch it because it was so sad," she said.
That definitely wasn't the answer we expected, but at least he was honest about it! Here's to hoping that Rain gives the drama another chance when he's finally ~ready~ to feel the feels. 'Til then, we can relive Tae Hee's compelling performance in Hi Bye, Mama! which is available for streaming on Netflix.
