In a statement from SM Entertainment, Key will complete his military training in accordance with the COVID-19 procedure: “Key is currently on his final leave, and he will be discharged on October 7 without returning to the base according to guidelines to be discharged without returning to the military base to prevent the spread of COVID-19. There will be no separate discharge event.”
Key enlisted at the Korea Army Training Center in Nonsan on March 4, 2019. In July last year, he recorded an army song with other idols like his fellow SHINEE member, Onew, EXO’s Xiumin, Wanna One’s Jisung, 2AM’s Jo Kwon and Jinwoon, INFINITE’s Sunggyu, BTOB’s Changsub, and actors Kim Min Suk and Lee Jae Kyoon.

During his enlistment, Key was also visited by his celebrity friends, including Girls Generation’s Taeyeon, Red Velvet’s Yeri, and Girl’s Day’s Hyeri.
Following Onew's release in July, Key is the second SHINee member to finish his enlistment while Minho is expected to complete his service in November 2020. We’re excited for SHINee’s comeback after they all finish their military training!
