For many of us, it feels like we've grown up alongside TWICE. Since making their debut in 2015 with "Like OOH-AHH," the nine-member group has gone on to release hit after hit like "Cheer Up," "TT," and "I Can't Stop Me,"cementing themselves as one of K-pop's biggest girl groups. Over the years, Jihyo, Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu have built a reputation for consistently delivering high-energy performances while taking on bigger stages around the world.

This weekend, July 12, the group officially wrapped up their THIS IS FOR World Tour in Seoul, marking the end of another milestone chapter in their 11-year career. The tour began in Incheon, South Korea, in July last year and extended to more than 80 shows across Asia, Europe, North America, and Oceania. It also became TWICE's sixth major world tour. And ICYMI, Filipino ONCEs got to see the group perform when they brought the tour to the Philippine Arena in Bulacan in October 2025!

But just before the finale concert, their group's leader, Jihyo, revealed in an interview with Forbes that TWICE plans to take a short hiatus following the tour. "For the past 11 years, as TWICE and as a solo artist, we barely had any breaks, so I want to spend the rest of this year relaxing and taking a bit of break," she shared.

Jihyo also acknowledged that the news may be bittersweet for fans who have supported the group throughout the years, but emphasized that this isn't a goodbye. "This break is really something we need in order to work better in the future, so I hope our fans understand."

Outside of TWICE's group activities, Jihyo has also been busy with her solo projects. She is currently promoting her latest collaboration, "Distant Lover," with Jamaican artist SHENSEEA, whose music video was released on July 11, 2026. Before that, she worked on her single, "Follow Me," alongside French Montana, Ludmilla, Adriana C, and RedOne, with the music video dropping in June.

With this much opportunity she's getting outside of Korea, Jihyo also gave credit to BTS for helping K-pop reach audiences worldwide. In that same interview with Forbes, she said, "We're just following in their footsteps, and I'm grateful for what they've done for us."

She also pointed out how social media platforms like TikTok, along with advances in technology, have made it easier than ever for K-pop artists to connect with fans across the globe.

How TWICE Took Their Music Worldwide

TWICE's global reach has only continued to grow throughout the years. With Japanese and Taiwanese members in the lineup, the group has long released Japanese versions of several of their biggest songs before taking another major step with "The Feels," their first full-English single, in 2021.

In June 2025, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung also recorded "Takedown" for the soundtrack of Netflix's fantasy film KPop Demon Hunters. Later that year, the group headlined Lollapalooza in Chicago alongside Olivia Rodrigo and Sabrina Carpenter, becoming the festival's sole K-pop act. During their set, they performed fan favorites including "Alcohol-Free," "ICONS," and "I Can't Stop Me."

After more than a decade of packed schedules, sold-out tours, and career-defining milestones, it's safe to say TWICE has earned a chance to slow down for a bit.

Here's to a well-deserved break—and to whatever comes next when the girls are ready for their comeback! 😊
