BGC-Based Company Confirms Employee Tested Positive For COVID-19

The employee is currently receiving treatment and tests in a hospital.

A BGC-based firm announced that one of its employees tested positive for COVID-19 through a Facebook post on March 7, 2020. Consulting firm Deloitte Philippines said, "the colleague is currently in [a] hospital receiving treatment and further tests."

The company assured the public that they have taken necessary actions regarding the confirmed case: "The health and safety of our people, our clients, and our community is our highest priority... Deloitte Philippines continues to comply with the instructions and directions from the Department of Health (DOH). All necessary actions were promptly taken to inform those who might have come into contact with the colleague for the appropriate checks and provide any possible form of support."

On March 6, 2020, the DOH announced two new confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines. One is a 48-year-old Filipino with travel history to Japan, and the other is a 62-year-old Filipino with no travel history. It was not mentioned if the BGC employee is among these cases.
