5 Ways The Pandemic Has Changed My Beauty Routine

Without question, the pandemic has changed every aspect of our lives. We always wear masks and face shields whenever we're out, alcohol and hand soap are life-saving must-haves, Zoom meetings are the norm, and staying in is cool. Along with these lifestyle adjustments, beauty routines became different, too. Maskne is a concern and color makeup isn't a priority anymore. Personally, I miss wearing makeup! My foundations, blushes, and lipsticks probably think I forgot about them, LOL!

Below, I wrote about how my beauty routine has changed because I'm also curious how you guys are dealing with all these adjustments. Compare my regimen to yours and let me know in the comments the similarities and differences!

  1. I'm now more focused on skincare.

    I have been lucky to be working from home since March 2020. I rarely wear makeup, so I find it important to take care of my skin more. But this doesn't mean that I have a gazillion steps. I keep everything low-key, and only include the essentials: Facial wash, micellar water, and moisturizer. Also, I never skip sunscreen, even if I'm just at home!

    Tip: You don't need to spend a lot on skincare! Find products with good ingredients that answer your skin’s needs. Keep your routine simple, too. You'll score a glowing complexion if you're using the right products and when you're consistent with your regimen.

  2. I've been using more beauty tools, too.

    Monthly facials are out of the picture, so I use an LED mask and RF wand to give me that in-clinic experience at homeFor my mani, I’ve taught myself how to clean up dead skin and hangnails. I have a DIY kit that has everything I need.

    Tip: Miss feeling pampered in the spa? Get a jade roller or gua sha tool to help relieve tense facial muscles.

  3. I've been paying more attention to my eye makeup.

    Although I've been taking care of my skin more, I still wear a bit of makeup to make myself look and feel good. I focus on the eyes since the mask is covering almost half of my face. (I miss wearing foundation and lip tints!) My go-to MOTD are fluffy brows and winged liner. I think I have mastered doing these: I barely make any mistakes!

    Tip: Try a trident-tip brow pen to make drawing hair-like strokes on bald spots super easy!

  4. My beauty routine is more of a holistic experience.

    Aside from topical skincare and fragrant body care products, I pay attention to the ambiance of my room. I like lighting up scented candles before going to bed. I play Spotify's Bedroom Pop playlist while I do my p.m. beauty routine. When my mind and body get into a ~ slowdown~ mode, I can easily fall asleep!

    Tip: Go for a candle warmer. It's a safer option than lighting up your candles because it heats up the candle using electricity. You can simply plug and forget about it (well, not really, LOL) for a few hours. BTW, your fave scented candle will last twice as long because the bulb only melts the top layer.

  5. I always research online before shopping for makeup.

    Before, I found it a fun experience when I would go to the mall to buy makeup. I would swatch the product on my hand to see the color payoff and texture. But since makeup testers are ancient history, I have to ~*really*~ research online before I purchase any item.
