On November 26, Belo Medical Group launched the "new face" of the brand, Jane De Leon, to kickstart its "new phase" as it enters its 30th year in the industry. Media, celebrities, and friends were invited to the opening of its newest clinic at One Bonifacio High Street, and Cosmopolitan got first dibs on what's in store for all of us straight from Dr. Vicki Belo herself, who addressed everyone during her opening speech at the event.
Expect Belo Medical Clinics to look proudly Pinoy.
The One Bonifacio clinic's interiors are a collaboration with world-renowned Filipino designers Budji Layug and Kenneth Cobonpue. Dr. Vicki got a little emotional when she gave a special shout-out to her husband, Hayden Kho Jr., whose vision brought in the new phase of Belo—from its clinics' proudly Pinoy aesthetic to the technology they use. "He’s really dragging me to the modern era," Dr. Vicki shared. "He has also done a lot of research and development; all our new treatments are [here] because he went all around the world looking for them. And once he gets his teeth [into] something, he doesn’t stop, so I’m so grateful. Thank you Hayden, I couldn’t have found a better partner."ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Dr. Vicki also showed her appreciation for her daughter Cristalle Belo Pitt: "You know, I have three wonderful children, but there is one child—naku maiiyak na ako!—that has not only taken care of me for so many, many years, especially after her dad and I split up, but she has also taken care of the Belo brand for such a long time, and helped with Belo Essentials. My darling, my beloved, Cristalle Belo Pitt."
There are three new clinics opening soon.
Aside from the One Bonifacio High Street clinic, there'll also be a new one in the Bay Area and SM Megamall. "Just to show you that we are continuing our dream of making Belo Medical Group the leader in beauty tourism in the world—we don't dream small—we dream 'world,' we are opening not just one, not just two, but three clinics this month!" announced Dr. Vicki.ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓Recommended Videos
Belo Medical Group is the first (and only) Filipino clinic that's internationally accredited by NABH International.
NABH stands for National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH). A certification from this board essentially guarantees that Belo Medical Group is at par with global standards and has passed all criteria. Dr. Vicki shared, "There were 420 criteria that we had to fulfill, and we did, and we've been accredited for six years now." This is also why Belo Medical Group has been chosen by the DOT and Sec. Berna Romulo to be their only partner clinic. Dr. Vicki explained, "When we did our research on what beauty tourists want, of course, they want great results, but more than that, they want to be assured of safety. And that's why we're NABH-certified because we want to make sure that we meet international standards when it comes to safety."ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
They're launching a glass skin filter!
We've written about how to get glass skin, but if you want to know HOW you'd look with it, there's a filter for that! Cosmopolitan was one of the first to try it, and it's pretty cool. Follow @belobeauty on Insta to watch for its launch!ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
There's going to be a Belo Shop and app.
Aside from the Belo app, which will allow you to book appointments on your phone, you will soon be able to buy medical-grade Belo products prescribed by doctors via the Belo Shop. "As long as you have already seen a doctor and you have a prescription, you can buy your products," explained Dr. Vicki. Take note that this is different from Belo Essentials, which are widely available in department stores, groceries, and drugstores nationwide.
They want to lessen your waiting time at the clinic.Everyone hates waiting for the doctor, especially if you're visiting for the first time. Belo Medical Group wants to cut down waiting time through the Aesthetic Interest Questionnaire (coming soon!) which you can answer on your way to the clinic. "So when you get to the clinic, we know who you are, we know what you want, we can make a better beauty plan for you because you already answered all these questions. What we're trying to do is we're trying to make it convenient for everybody and lessen waiting time," said Dr. Vicki.
They have new facials you have to try!
During the ABS-CBN Ball, Cosmopolitan was able to try the glow-inducing Glass Skin Facial, introduced by the clinics to address the clamor for Korean-inspired skincare. There's also another one we're itching to try: the Salt Facial. Dr. Vicki explained, "The Salt Facial is amazing—it uses salt, which is a purifier—it removes debris, dead skin, and kills bacteria. It's also a humectant, so it absorbs water. Then there's an LED light [to cap off the facial]."ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Dr. Vicki's fave machine rn, however, is the Skin Genius. "It's almost like Thermage and Ulthera combined. It uses radiofrequency energy to tighten the skin and lift. It's great for people who have sagging skin and need 'good quality' skin. [It's for] people with acne scars as well. It takes care of two things. Not only does it lift, but it also makes your skin a lot better."ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
When you enter the One Bonifacio Belo clinic, you're guaranteed to breathe in clean air.
"We are the only clinic in the whole [of] Asia to be Pure Certified," Dr. Vicki said, referring to Intellipure, an international, medical-grade air-purifying system that they use in the One Boni clinic. "I know a lot of you are getting upper respiratory tract infections and many new cases of asthma because our air is so dirty. Think about it. You are what you breathe. In Belo, you're drenched in clean air, all day. It's going to detoxify your body, bring nutrients to your skin, give you that pinkish glow. So when I have nothing to do, I'm going to hang out at the Belo Fort clinic!"
Belo Medical Group launched an early retirement program for all its staff.
"To make sure that you're taken care of, we're taking care of our staff," Dr. Vicki shared. "Because we know that if they feel loved and taken care of, then they will definitely take care of our patients here."ADVERTISMENT - CONTINUE READING BELOW ↓
Dr. Vicki shared how proud she is to be on their 30th year in the industry: "[30 years] means 30 years of doing thousands of procedures. This means 30 years of people trusting us with their faces and bodies because it's the only one they've got. And so we're very proud to be 30 years [old]." She cited her own experience as an example: "As you know, to be an expert in the Outliers book, it takes 10,000 hours. Guess what? Personally, I've done over 12,000 liposuctions, three hours each, [so] I'm way over 36,000 hours. But that's not just me—it's also our plastic surgeons, because in the end, if something goes wrong, it's my name on the line. So I will always guarantee that you will be safe here. Our philosophy has always been, 'Expert hands, warmest touch.'"
With its foray into e-commerce, Insta filters, world-class accreditation, and progressive programs, how Dr. Vicki ended her speech seemed quite apt: "Belo just doesn't adapt to the future. We are the future!"
