Arjo Atayde was just named Best Drama Supporting Actor at the 33rd PMPC Awards for his role in the action series The General's Daughter, and his speech will make you kilig with his special shoutout to Maine Mendoza.
Although Arjo looked totally cool and collected as he received the award, he revealed he was actually super nervous.
"Hindi niyo lang po alam, [but] I'm shaking right now, I'm really shy," he said as he began his speech.
Arjo went on to thank his supporters, ABS-CBN for giving him the opportunity to work on The General's Daughter, and his fellow stars on the action-drama series for believing in him.
"First of all, I want to thank the cast for teaching me every day," Arjo said. "I remain to be a student of what I'm doing every day, and I'm very thankful that I'm privileged that I'm working with all these brilliant actors and actresses."
His voice then got shaky as he shared his initial apprehension about his capabilities.
"I told you, I doubted myself," he said. "Every day. Every day, you believed in me so much. You told me, 'Arjo, you can do it.' And now, I'm standing in front of you guys with this award. Thank you. I love you guys so much."
Here's the part we loved the most (also where we see Angel Locsin wiping off tears). Arjo ended his speech with a super sweet message for Maine!
"Last but not the least, Maine, thank you so much for being such an inspiration, for being my every day, for keeping up with my weirdness, this one's for you." Aww!
In September, Arjo received praise from the Autism Society of the Philippines for his role as Elai Sarmiento in The General's Daughter. They described his portrayal as "sensitive" and "nuanced."
Netizens started spotting Arjo and Maine together in October 2018. In January this year, Arjo confirmed in an interview that he and Maine are exclusively dating. Maine, on the other hand, confirmed their relationship in a blog post in March.
