Big Bang members Taeyang and Daesung were discharged from their mandatory military service in South Korea on November 9.
According to Soompi, a large crowd of fans gathered at the Korean Military’s Ground Operations Command in Yongin to celebrate Taeyang and Daesung’s return to civilian life.
Taeyang said, “I still can’t believe that I’ve been discharged. My time [in the military] could be seen as both a short period of time or a long one, depending on how you look at it, but I think it was truly meaningful. I want to thank my fellow soldiers and my superior officers who spent 20 months leading me despite my shortcomings.”
Daesung added, “I also think that I learned a lot of things after entering the military. I felt a lot of emotions that I hadn’t experienced during my everyday life, and I think that I learned a lot about empathizing with other people.”
On Instagram, Taeyang shared several photos from the memorable day, as well as snaps of him and Daesung posing with fans:
In July, T.O.P. became the first Big Bang member to be discharged from military service this year. He said, “Even though I am not proud of myself, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all the fans who made time and [effort] to share this moment with me. I will make sure to reflect on myself and repay the hurts and disappointments I caused to you. Again, thank you. Until I see you again. Love, T.O.P.”
Following T.O.P.’s return to civilian life, G-Dragon was the next to be discharged in October. The 31-year-old singer was greeted by a crowd of 3,000 people as they waited in the cold weather.
With the boys of Big Bang now out of the military, fans eagerly wait for news of the K-pop group's comeback to the music scene.
