Sky Castle, one of the highest-rated dramas of 2019, introduced us to the residents of an exclusive compound, where super competitive parents and their kids reside. If you're a fan of K-dramas about betrayal, mystery, and the lives of the *glamorous*, then new series Chip In is for you!
Who's starring in it?
Our fave *evil* queen from Kingdom, Kim Hye Jun, is the main character! According to Soompi, her character Yoo Bit Na is "an ambitious college student who works to pay her own tuition and living expenses even though she is the daughter of the famous artist." Oh Na Ra —who was also in Sky Castle—plays Bit Na's mom Kim Ji Hye, the ex-mistress of said famous artist. During an interview, Na Ra said that their characters are "more like friends than a mother and daughter."
The cast also includes Nam Moon Chul, Kim Jung Young, Han Soo Hyun, Kim Si Eun, Lee Yoon Hee, Choi Gyu Jin, and Nam Mi Jung.
What's it about?
According to Soompi, Chip In is "a black comedy-mystery drama that follows nine people as they gather at the home of a famous artist in the hopes of getting his inheritance." They are ~connected~ to each other, but they're also willing to betray each other if it's for their personal benefit.
In the trailer, we see Bit Na judging everyone around her at the dinner table—as they casually talk about murder—thinking: "These people don't have the minimum dignity as humans. It's the worst family of all. I hope all of them disappear."
Oh Na Ra shared in an interview: "None of us knew who the culprit was until the last episode's script came out. So we were suspicious of each other and throwing out theories to mull over. That made filming more fun, and helped make the scenes feel more natural."
When will Chip In be released?
The drama aired its first episode yesterday, July 22, in South Korea. Soompi reports that Chip In premiered at the top of its time slot in ratings! You can stream the show in the PH on Viu starting today.
