8 Lee Min Ki K-Dramas You Should Watch

Lee Min Ki is a man of many talents. Aside from being an award-winning actor, he's a model and a singer. He started his acting career in 2004 with the drama special My Older Brother and joined the cast of the successful daily drama Be Strong, Geum Soon! in 2005. Since then, he has starred in both dramas and films, going from sweet male lead to badass villain with ease. You might remember him from his impressive stint in the horror romance movie, Spellbound, with veteran actress Son Ye Jin, but it was his role in the disaster film, Tidal Wave, that earned him a Best New Actor Award from the Baeksang Art Awards. 1. Love Truly (2006)

Min Ki is such a master of facial expressions, and you'll find yourself falling for his character, Bong Ki, in this drama where he plays an arrogant bodyguard for the president's daughter. He constantly berates the protagonist, Bong Soon (Eugene), a country girl who takes up the post of chef at the Blue House. Is romance in the cards for the two of them, or does Bong Soon's wandering heart belong to someone else? This drama isn't just all about the romance though; it's an ode to friendship and life that will have you rooting for all the side characters you meet along the way.

2. Dal Ja's Spring (2007)

Dal Ja's Spring is the drama that originally put Min Ki on the map. This rom-com puts the spotlight on societal issues like what it's like to live as a single woman in your 30s and the stigma women can face when dating men younger than they are. It revolves around Oh Dal Ja (Chae Rim), a career woman in her early 30s who hasn't had much luck when it comes to romance. She hires 27-year-old Kang Tae Bong (Min Ki) to be her contract boyfriend, but as they get to know each other better, they start developing feelings. Will their relationship survive societal pressures?

This quirky coming-of-age drama is the first installment of the popular Flower Boy series on tvN, and it gives us emo Boys Over Flowers feels. Min Ki plays a supporting role as Joo Byung Hee, the charismatic leader of the underground rock group Eye Candy. When their high school closes down, they end up attending Jung Sang High where they become rivals with the band Strawberry Fields. Byung Hee also finds his muse at school, a girl named Im Soo Ah (Bo Ah). When a tragic incident occurs, Eye Candy must figure out how to get up again. Eye Candy is literally a feast for the eyes with its flower boy members, including INFINITE's L and Descendants Of The Sun's Kim Min Seok.

4. Because This Is My First Life (2017)

Min Ki makes his return to the small screen with this rom-com in which he plays Nam Se Hee, an IT guy renting out a room in the townhouse he lives in. He decides to let prospective tenant "Ji Ho" rent the room, but what he doesn't realize is that he’s actually a girl. Yoon Ji Ho (So Min) is a struggling screenwriter in dire need of a home, so she agrees to a two-year contract marriage with Se Hee. They're married on paper, but in truth, they're simply landlord and tenant. While the drama's premise is definitely something out of K-dramaland, it has a very realistic take on romance and marriage.

Loosely adapted from the Korean film of the same name, The Beauty Inside is a fantasy meloromance about Han Se Gye (Hyun Jin), a popular actress who mysteriously vanishes every month, fueling rumors. What the public doesn't know is that it’s because her appearance changes into someone else's. She finds an unexpected match in Seo Do Jae (Min Ki), the director for the airline company she models for. He hides a secret of his own: He has prosopagnosia, which makes him unable to recognize faces. Can they find love in the midst of their problems?

She gets help from Jo Tae Sik (Min Ki), a detective who just wants to lead a quiet life. But when he takes on the case of Seo Hee's father, he realizes that things are more complicated than they seem. The two protagonists find themselves in the middle of a political conspiracy. Who could be the mastermind, and what do they want to achieve?

7. Oh My Ladylord (2021)

Oh Joo In (Nana) is a popular actress who often stars in rom-coms. She wants to buy her childhood home, but unfortunately, it now belongs to Han Bi Soo (Min Ki), a drama scriptwriter who refuses to sell it to her. Somehow, Joo In ends up buying the house from Bi Soo's mother. After a scandal causes Bi Soo's reputation to fall, he now has to beg Joo In to allow him to rent his old room and star in his new drama. Joo In agrees—but only if Bi Soo calls her master. Shenanigans ensue!
