No doubt about it: Lee Seung Gi is one of the very first Korean drama actors we had a crush on (I still remember watching My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho with my cousins after school). And now that he has a newly-released series called Vagabond, we're ready to watch more of Seung Gi!
He had supporting roles in the shows Nonstop 5 (2004) and The Infamous Chil Sisters (2006), and had his first lead role in the drama Brilliant Legacy (2009). Here, let's take a closer look at his past shows:
1. Brilliant Legacy (2009)
Eun Sung (Han Hyoo Joo) and Hwan (Seung Gi) accidentally exchange suitcases during a flight from Korea to New York. THAT was their first encounter. And when Eun Sung and her brother get kicked out by their stepmother, Hwan's grandmother takes her in to live with Hwan's family—to possibly be the new heir to the family business instead of him!
2. My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho (2010)
The TV show that established Seung Gi as a Filipino fan fave, My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho tells the story of a nine-tailed fox (Shin Min Ah) who is unknowingly released from a painting by Dae Woong (Seung Gi), a college student whose ultimate dream is to be a well-known action star. In exchange for Dae Woong helping her to become human (and feeding her meat), the Gumiho aka Mi Ho helps him achieve his dream with her superpowers!
3. The Greatest Love (2011)
Lee Seung Gi makes a brief cameo (it lasted four minutes!) in Episode 9 of this drama! Hey, it still counts.
4. The King 2 Hearts (2012)
What if contemporary South Korea was still under a monarchy? And what happens when a prince (Seung Gi) falls for a special forces agent (Ha Ji Won) from North Korea? This star-crossed love story is going to take you—and your heart—for the ride of your life!
5. Gu Family Book (2013)
In this historical-slash-martial arts drama, half man-half Gumiho Kang Chi (Seung Gi) is looking for a legendary book that can help him become fully human! Despite people being afraid of him, Yeo Wool (Bae Suzy) falls for Kang Chi.
6. You're All Surrounded (2014)
A detective named Ji Yong (Seung Gi) vows to find the truth about his mother's murder, which took place 11 years ago. He spies on his boss, believing that he is somehow involved with the case!
7. The Producers (2015)
This drama takes us behind the scenes of the ~always busy~ entertainment industry in Korea! Seung Gi makes another cameo appearance in Episode 6, where he has scenes with IU, Kim Soo Hyun, and Gong Hyo Jin.
8. A Korean Odyssey (2017)
This fantasy drama stars Seung Gi as an immortal who is exiled to the human world—minus his powers! He encounters Seon Mi (Oh Yeon So), a real estate CEO who has the ability to see spirits and whom he knew as a little girl.
9. Vagabond (2019)
In Vagabond, we see Seung Gi in another action-packed role. He stars as a stuntman who uncovers a government conspiracy when a plane crashes in Morocco and kills everyone on board, including his nephew. He crosses paths with an undercover agent (Bae Suzy) who is also working on the case!
