We know you're curious about Mystic Pop-Up Bar, which premieres on Netflix on May 20! It's giving us intense Hotel Del Luna vibes, but with a much lighter and funnier tone. Soompi writes that this drama is based on a webtoon and focuses on a pojangmacha (a Korean outdoor drinking establishment) run by a woman named Weol-ju. But the pojangmancha is no ordinary drinking place—the bar's employees are tasked with helping people through their dreams! Here's what we know about the characters (so far):
Hwang Jung Eum plays *surly* late-night bar owner Weol-ju who "enters customers' dreams to help ease unresolved sorrows." Her task is to help a total of 100,000 troubled souls. And if she fails, she will "perish in the depths of hell!"
According to BTOB's Yook Sung Jae, his character Kang-bae is a ~pure soul~. Netflix writes that Kang-bae was born with the gift of clairvoyance and is "a human magnet for other people's problems and sorrows." Each person he touches reveals their secrets, and that's why he avoids direct contact with them as much as possible. Kang-bae becomes a part-time employee at Weol-ju's bar and helps her enter people's dreams.
Meanwhile, Choi Won Young plays Guibanjang, aka Chief Gwi, the manager of the pop-up bar who's also tasked with keeping an eye on Weol-ju. Talking about his character, Won Young said: "Although he may seem insignificant as he works at the pojangmacha without a big presence and while being treated poorly and bossed around by Weol-ju, he's actually an important and necessary character."
The show will also feature Lee Joon Hyuk (as the grim reaper), Jung Da Eun, Park Shi Eun, Song Geon Hee, and many other familiar faces!
