Another Netflix Original, another *mindblowing* marketing strategy! For the streaming giant's latest release, they went all out and brought us back to 1988.
Seoul Vibe is a Korean movie set against the backdrop of the 1988 Seoul Olympics. It follows a group of baby drivers called the Samgyedong Supreme Team who are involved in a slush fund investigation. Leading the pack is actor Yoo Ah In, and joining him are Go Kyung Pyo, Lee Kyu Hyung, Ong Seong Wu, and Park Ju Hyun.
On August 24, Netflix Philippines hosted the Seoul Vibe Garage Party at One Esplanade where we danced like it's the '80s. The event's retro design is complete with a vintage car, and it totally felt like we were in 1988 Seoul.
On the same day, Netflix Philippines announced another promotion on their social media accounts: Anyone can buy gas at the Seoul Vibe gas station on August 26 for only P7 (YUP, FOR ONLY P7) per liter, a.k.a its price in 1988! Motorists just have to register via the Seoul Vibe website before d-day in order to avail of this promo. As of writing, it has already been sold out. Daebak! Check out the Seoul Vibe gas station which was located in Edsa near 7th avenue:
In South Korea, Netflix also brought their A-game for their Seoul Vibe promotions by putting up huuuuuge billboards in Seoul (we saw one on Yoo Ah In's Instagram story); collaborating with McDonald's Korea, Vans Korea, and Hyundai; and holding a fan meeting where the audience can interact with the movie's cast. Wow!
You can now stream Seoul Vibe on Netflix. Enjoy watching!
