1. Sungkyunkwan Scandal (2010)
Disclaimer: It isn't available in the PH at the moment, but we're sure you remember this cute K-drama. In Sungkyungkwan Scandal, a girl disguises herself as a young man and becomes a student at a prestigious all-boys school. Song Joong Ki played Yeo Rim, a mischievous flower boy. Fun fact: Joong Ki studied at Sungkyungkwan University IRL.
2. Penny Pinchers (2011)
Song Joong Ki is described in the trailer as "Mr. Charming With No Job!" Viu tells us that in this romantic comedy, "a money-saving young woman teams up with an unemployed loser in a money-raising scheme, resulting in some hilarious mishaps and a blossoming romance."

3. A Werewolf Boy (2012)
This film was one of the projects that shot Song Joong Ki to fame. A Werewolf Boy tells the story of a girl who befriends a "feral boy" whom she discovers on the grounds of a country house. During a press conference, Joong Ki admitted that he actually struggled with having no lines for the film. He shared: "Since I had no lines, I thought it'd be very easy but actually, it was really hard...Taking away lines from an actor is very uncomfortable. It's like a soldier without a gun."

4. Tree With Deep Roots (2012)
According to Netflix, this historical drama tells the story of King Sejong the Great and his journey to creating the writing system Hangul. Song Joong Ki plays the teenage version of King Sejong.

5. Nice Guy/The Innocent Man (2012)
According to Viu, Song Joong Ki's character Kang Ma Ru takes the blame for his girlfriend Han Jae Hee and is imprisoned even though he's innocent. When he is released and he finds out that she is already married to a rich man called President Seo, he uses President Seo's daughter to get revenge but ends up falling for her instead.

6. Descendants Of The Sun (2016)
A doctor named Kang Mo Yeon (Song Hye Kyo) and a soldier named Captain Yoo aka Big Boss (Song Joong Ki) start dating, but their respective jobs and principles get in the way. They reunite when their professions take them to Uruk, and their romance is given a second chance! Joong Ki and Hye Kyo, also known as the Song-Song couple, fell in love on set and got married in October 2017. Sadly, it was a short-lived romance, because they got divorced in July 2019.

7. The Battleship Island (2017)
According to Viu, this movie is set during the Japanese occupation, when hundreds of Koreans were forced into a labor camp on an island called Hashima. Soompi writes that Song Joong Ki plays Park Moo Young, an independence fighter who "infiltrates the island in order to rescue important figures of the independence movement against imperial Japan."

8. Arthdal Chronicles (2019)
In this fantasy drama, Joong Ki is Eun Seom, an "innocent-looking fighter." As we follow Eun Som's story, we also see the birth of civilization in the ancient city of Arthdal, the capital of Gojoseon. The drama featured several lines from two Filipino languages (Tausug and Yakan) and is scheduled to shoot for a second season.

9. Space Sweepers (2021)
Song Joong Ki starred Netflix sci-fi film Space Sweepers, a ~galactic adventure~ set in the year 2092. Netflix describes that "Earth has become a bleak planet and will soon be uninhabitable. Thus, a pristine habitat was created in space for UTS citizens. All the space travel has also resulted in tons of space debris. The crew members of Spaceship Victory live off salvaging space debris." Joong Ki plays genius space pilot Tae-ho.

10. Vincenzo (2021)
Song Joong Ki starred as the titular character Vincenzo Cassano, a ruthless Italian lawyer and mafia consigliere who flies back to his birth country, South Korea, for some unfinished business. This is definitely his biggest role to date, and Joong Ki even considers it "a role of a lifetime." Joong Ki's stellar performance even earned him a Best Actor nomination at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards.
