Suzy is one of Hallyu's rising K-drama stars and we can't seem to get enough of her charm! She's set to make her small-screen comeback real soon (read: next week) in the tech drama, Start-Up. So, before we all go binge-watching our new weekly fave, here's a rundown of fast facts to know about Suzy.

1. Suzy's real name is Bae Su Ji.

Cute! Now we know where the name "Suzy" came from.

2. Her birthday is today!

Suzy was born on October 10, 1994, and is 26-years-old. She grew up in Gwangju, South Korea, and has two siblings: one older sister and one younger brother.

3. She's known to be very generous to her parents and siblings.

Back in 2013, Suzy's dad sent a video message to the variety show Healing Camp where he expressed how proud he is of his daughter for all the good things she's done for their family: "Suzy bought her mother a cafe and later on bought a better car. Even though she's really busy, she would call and text her siblings and parents. She takes care of us really well. I'm so proud."

In the same show, Suzy revealed that the house they grew up in was too small for their family of five, so when she got to save some money, she moved them to a more comfortable home: "I always felt bad about it and wanted the family to have a bigger house after saving up enough money. I wanted to move to a better place, but mom said that having a good house wasn't necessary. That's why I got us a slightly bigger house so we're at least comfortable." (via Soompi)

4. She started out as a K-pop trainee under JYP Entertainment in 2009.

Suzy initially auditioned for the talent search competition, Superstar K, but was cut after the preliminary round. JYP Entertainment scouts eyed her in the show and signed her as a trainee. And the rest, as they say, is history!

5. Suzy was part of the k-pop girl group miss A!

In 2010, JYP Entertainment debuted their new four-piece girl group, miss A: Fei, Jia, Min, and Suzy. Their first single is called "Good Girl, Bad Girl".

Suzy was the vocalist, rapper, face, and maknae of miss A. The group released two full-length albums: A Class (2011) and Hush (2013). After members Jia and Mina left miss A, in 2016 and 2017 respectively, JYP announced miss A's official disbandment in December 2017. Their last single, "Only You", was released in 2015.

6. Suzy is a successful solo artist.

After miss A's disbandment, Suzy continued her music career as a solo artist. She's since released two EPs: Yes? No? (2017) and Faces Of Love (2018). Her last single was 2018's "Midnight".

7. She made her acting debut in Dream High in 2011.

Much like her real-life journey, Suzy's breakout drama role was as an aspiring K-pop star, Go Hye Mi. Dream High revolved around the students of Kirin Arts School, a well-known academic institution that produces Korea's top idols. Suzy co-starred alongside Kim Soo Hyun and Ok Taecyeon in the drama.

8. Suzy is now known as a rising K-drama actress!

After Dream High, Suzy landed a number of supporting roles in dramas and films. It was in 2016 when she was cast in her first lead drama role for Uncontrollably Fond, co-starring Kim Woo Bin. She's since appeared in the top-rating the dramas, While You Were Sleeping (2017) and Vagabond (2019).

9. She'll be making her small-screen comeback real soon.

Suzy's next project is the ~tech~ drama, Start-Up, which co-stars Nam Joo Hyuk. Set in South Korea's fictional version of Silicon Valley, called Sandbox, Start-Up tells the story of "young entrepreneurs aspiring to launch virtual dreams into reality." The drama stars Suzy as the hardworking and determined Seo Da Mi, and Joo Hyuk as Nam Do San, a math genius who reaches early success. Start-Up will premiere on October 17 on Netflix.

10. She previously dated Lee Min Ho and Lee Dong Wook.

Suzy's first public relationship was with Lee Min Ho. They dated for two-and-a-half years, from March 2015 to November 2017.

In March 2018, Suzy and Lee Dong Wook were confirmed to be dating. Their romance was short-lived, though, and they officially broke up in July of the same year.

11. Suzy left JYP Entertainment in 2019.

She's now signed with Management SOOP, a talent agency that houses an impressive roster of actors: Gong Yoo, Gong Hyo Jin, Choi Woo Shik, Jung Yu Mi, and her Start-Up leading man, Nam Joo Hyuk.
