Whenever somebody says, "I'm not sure if I've ever had an orgasm," I always say, "Then you haven't," because trust me, if you've had one, you'd know it. That's how powerful it can be.
It's probably why the French term for an orgasm is "la petite mort" or "the little death." How appropriate, right? An orgasm really does feel like you temporarily died, drifted out of your body, and floated to heaven.
The term was coined as early as the 16th century when Thomas Hardy, a poet, used it to describe nervous spasms or fainting episodes. "The little death" is more than just a physical reaction; it's also a spiritual release, a "psychological loss."
