The 32-year-old star isn't only a four-time Baeksang awardee but is also the highest-paid Korean actor of 2020. Suzy (Dream High, 2011)
What's her role in the drama? Suzy broke out in the Korean drama scene as former rich kid Go Hye Mi. To pay off her father's debt, the classically trained opera singer auditions at Kirin Arts School, a well-known academic institution that produces Korea's top idols. To secure her spot in the school, Hye Mi recruits Song Sam Dong (Kim Soo Hyun), a musical genius from the countryside.
What's she up to now? At the time Suzy filmed Dream High, she was fresh off her debut in the JYP Entertainment girl group Miss A. She's since gone to do solo work in both her singing and acting careers and left JYP in 2019 to sign with Management Soop, an acting agency. She's now known as one of the rising actresses in Hallyu after starring in Uncontrollably Fond (2016) with Kim Woo Bin and Vagabond (2019) alongside Lee Seung Gi. She's currently filming her newest drama, Start Up, which co-stars Nam Joo Hyuk.
Han Ga In (Moon Embracing The Sun, 2012)
What's her role in the drama? In the sageuk drama set in the Joseon Dynasty, Ha Ga In stars as Shaman Wol. But Shaman Wol isn't really who she thinks she is: She's actually the Crown Princess Heo Yeon Woo, who, to the public, was mysteriously killed before her wedding to the Crown Prince Lee Hwon (Kim Soo Hyun). Years after the incident, she's lost memories of her royal upbringing, but now that she's back in the palace, ~visions~ of her past—and attraction towards Lee Hwon—come back haunting her.
What's she up to now? Han Ga In hasn't been active in her acting career and only appeared in one drama after Moon Embracing The Sun, the 2018 mystery thriller Mistress. But she's been busy doting on her two young children with husband, actor Yeon Jung Hoon.
Jun Ji Hyun (My Love From The Star, 2013)
What's her role in the drama? Jun Ji Hyun's role as Cheon Song Yi, an over-the-top and self-absorbed Hallyu actress, definitely catapulted her to international fame. One day, Song Yi bumps into her new neighbor, the cold and reclusive college professor Do Min Joo—who, as a twist of fate, ends up being her professor when she decides to go back to school. What she doesn't know is that Min Joo is actually an ~alien~ who's been stuck on earth since the Joseon Dynasty.
What's she up to now? After My Love From The Star, Jun Ji Hyun starred in another fantasy drama, 2016's Legend Of The Blue Sea, alongside Lee Min Ho. Even though she hasn't starred in a drama since then, she did make a cameo appearance in Kingdom Season 2 this year. Rumor has it that she'll be paired next with Ju Ji Hoon in a new drama titled Mount Jiri.
Gong Hyo Jin (The Producers, 2015)
What's her role in the drama? The Producers is a satire of the Korean entertainment industry and is set in the variety show division of the KBS television network where Tak Ye Jin (Gong Hyo Jin) reigns as a longtime Music Bank ~producer~. Her no-nonsense and driven work ethics prove to be a challenge for rookie PD Baek Seung Chan (Kim Soo Hyun).
What's she up to now? Being the seasoned actress that she is, Gong Hyo Jin continued to star in hit dramas and films after wrapping up The Producers: Don't Dare To Dream and Missing, both released in 2016. She made her TV comeback in 2019 with the top-rating drama, When The Camellia Blooms, with Kang Ha Neul.
IU (The Producers, 2015)
What's her role in the drama? Oh yes, Kim Soo Hyun does have two leading ladies in The Producers! IU plays ~icy~ top singer Cindy who's been working in 'biz in her teens. Cindy grows a surprising crush on the young and super cute PD Baek Seung Chan (Kim Soo Hyun).
What's she up to now? IU has only grown to be one of the top entertainers in Korea today. Post-The Producers, IU starred in two well-received dramas, Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo (2016) and Hotel Del Luna (2019). She's also achieved success in her music career with her fourth studio album, Palette (2017), and her ninth EP, Love Poem. She's currently filming her first feature film, Dream, co-starring Park Seo Joon.
Seo Ye Ji (It’s Okay To Not Be Okay, 2020)
What's her role in the drama? In the gothic horror and fairytale drama, Seo Ye Ji plays famed children's author Ko Mun Yeong, who's known to be crude, unpleasant, and has a fascination with sharp objects. She chances upon the hardworking and handsome caregiver Moon Gang Tae (Kim Soo Hyun) at a book reading event and decides that she'll ~get him~ no matter what stands in her way.
What's she up to now? Seo Ye Ji is currently filming It's Okay To Not Be Okay, but prior to the drama, she played the lead roles in Lawless Lawyer (2018), Save Me (2017), and Moorim School (2016). You might also recognize her as Princess Sook Myung from Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth (2016).
