We love an actor who can play both the hero and the villain! Veteran star Namgoong Min can go from people’s lawyer to brutal murderer and have us convinced either way. With a career spanning 20 years, he went from being known as little Bae Yong Joon (of Winter Sonata fame) to becoming a prestigious Grand Prize (Daesang) winner. We first noticed him as the chilling villain in The Girl Who Sees Smells back in 2015, and we’ve been fans ever since! If you’re new to the Namgoong Min fandom, here’s a list of his K-dramas you can stream today.

Early Projects

1. Remember (2015)

Who else is in it: Yoo Seung Ho, Park Sung Woong, Park Min Young, Jung Hye Sung

Where to stream it: Viu

In this crime thriller, Seo Jin Woo’s (Seung Ho) father has Alzheimer’s disease and gets convicted for a murder he didn’t commit. Aided by his good memory, Jin Woo becomes a lawyer to clear his father’s name. Min plays the drama’s main antagonist, the dangerous Nam Gyu Man, a rich and crazy businessman with a history of violence, and the man Jin Woo needs to put behind bars. Min’s performance is guaranteed to give you chills (we know we got scared!), and his acting got him nominated for the Grand Prize.

2. Beautiful Gong Shim (2016)

Who else is in it: Girl's Day's Minah, On Joo Wan, Seo Hyo Rim

Where to stream it: Netflix

Gong Shim (Min Ah) is considered the “ugly” sister, while her older sister, a beautiful lawyer named Gong Mi (Hyo Rim), gets all praises from both their family and outsiders. Struggling to make ends meet as she’s jobless, she rents her rooftop room to Ahn Dan Tae (Min), a troublemaker who’s actually a lawyer helping people in need. While their relationship starts out rocky, things slowly change between them, and soon, Gong Shim starts to realize there’s nothing wrong with her. She’s perfect and beautiful the way she is!

3. Good Manager (2017)

Who else is in it: Nam Sang Mi, 2PM's Lee Junho, Jung Hye Sung, Kim Seon Ho

Where to stream it: Netflix

Min goes for another role as a delinquent with a heart of gold in this super lovable and relatable workplace drama. His character, Sung Ryong, is an accountant for a mobster, but he ends up getting hired as the accounting department chief for a proper company. He plans to embezzle money from the company like the mobster that he is, but when he realizes more nefarious things are happening at TQ Group, he becomes the employees’ champion. This drama features a lot of cuties, including 2PM’s Junho as TQ’s finance director (and not-so-secret foodie) and our good boy, Kim Seon Ho, as the nerdy Sang Tae of the business ops department.

This rom-com is a meeting of talented veteran stars as Min plays love interest to award-winning actress Hwang Jung Eum. If you’re looking for something sweet and light, try this drama! Jung Eum works for a matchmaking agency, while Hoon Nam is a dating columnist. Their paths inevitably cross, and at first, things aren’t pretty. Can Jung Eum thaw Hoon Nam’s frozen heart?

5. Doctor Prisoner (2019)

Who else is in it: Hello Venus' Kwon Nara, Kim Byung Chul, Choi Won Young

This medical drama is a surprisingly exciting ride that will have you on the edge of your seat. If you’re a fan of Ji Sung’s legal thriller, Innocent Defendant, Doctor Prisoner is similarly full of twists that will have you paying attention. Min plays Na Yi Je, a talented doctor caught in a conglomerate’s complicated web of lies. He ends up getting accused of medical malpractice and goes to jail. After serving time, Yi Je is ready to get revenge. As the story unfolds, it soon becomes apparent that his plan is more complicated—and brilliant—than it seems.

6. Hot Stove League (2019)

Who else is in it: Park Eun Bin, Oh Jung Se, Jo Byeong Gyu

If you only have time to watch one Min drama, start with Hot Stove League! This critically-acclaimed sports drama finally helped Min get his first-ever Grand Prize award. A heartwarming tale of friendship, family, and career, the drama revolves around Baek Sung Soo (Min), eccentric new general manager of the Dreams, the baseball team currently holding last place in the league. Sung Soo has had experience in various fields—none of them baseball-related—but he’s determined to make the Dreams number one.
