1. Ara Mina and Patrick Meneses
Ara Mina and her ex-boyfriend Bulakan, Bulacan mayor Patrick Meneses have a six-year-old daughter named Mandy. And in Ara's recent nuptials to Trade Undersecretary Dave Almarinez in Baguio, it was pleasantly surprising to see that Patrick was in attendance! In an interview with PEP.ph, Patrick said that the couple personally invited him to be present in their Baguio wedding and even said that Ara and Dave are "soulmates." "Siyempre, it's not every day that anyone finds their soulmate," he said. "She's very lucky and Dave's lucky as well. They found each other. Soulmates sila. I feel so blessed to be part and to witness this ceremony. This is the biggest event in their life."
In the '90s, Claudine Barretto and Mark Anthony Fernandez's love team went from reel-to-real much to the delight of their fans. Their relationship was rumored to have ended in 1996, but now in 2021, they've teamed up for their reunion movie Deception. In a recent press con for their film, both of them said they remained friends through the years even though they never got closure from their breakup. To this day, Claudine thinks that Mark Anthony is the kindest among all her exes. "We never spoke ill of each other," she said. "Sa lahat ng nakarelasyon ko, siya ang pinakamabait. Hindi mo siya makikita na magagalit. He just takes all the jabs! Very gentleman...siguro ako yung dapat mag-ask ng forgiveness from him."
Bea Alonzo and Zanjoe Marudo had a five-year run that ended in 2016. But a couple of years after they split, the two have been spotted hanging out with mutual friends. More notably, Bea was also seen reuniting with Zanjoe's two US-based sisters when she was in New York for a work trip. The trio even calls themselves The Powerpuff Girls!
Although their four-year-long relationship was publicized to have ended in January 2020, Nadine Lustre and James Reid actually broke up in November 2019. The two have remained good friends after the split, with James even working on Nadine's album Wildest Dreams. In an interview with Karen Davila, Nadine said their breakup was mutual and that there was no third party involved: "It wasn't really a bad breakup. We just wanted to work on ourselves. I get that people are sad about it, but for us, it was a mutual decision. He had to take care of his family, focus on his career, and I had to focus on my career and take care of my family as well."
Anne Curtis and Sam Milby started their relationship in 2007 which ended four years later. But as artists in the same network, their paths were bound to cross. Post-breakup, the two worked together in the teleserye Dyesebel and the movie The Gifted. According to Anne, it was in Dyesebel where they became friends again. In 2015, Anne was a special guest in Sam's 10th anniversary concert at the Kia Theater.
Nine years after their breakup, Solenn Heussaff and Derek Ramsay starred in the comedy film Love Is Blind in 2016. Though admittedly both parties were a bit awkward at first, they warmed up to each other throughout the process of filming. "I think for the nine years, civil naman kami, but it's not like we'd call each other and meet for coffee," Solenn said during the press conference of their movie. "Pero ito yung first time talaga that we actually had a long conversation. Actually nung nag-yes ako sa movie na 'to di ko alam na si Derek yung leading man ko, nalaman ko after. Pero 'yon, I'm happy."
Julia Barretto and Joshua Garcia teamed up two years after splitting up in Moira Dela Torre's "Paubaya" music video. Even after their breakup, they always spoke positively about each other and keeping a close friendship. Talk show host Boy Abunda shared a conversation he had with Julia about Joshua. "Sabi niya, 'Alam mo Tito Boy, yung pagiging magkaibigan namin ni Joshua is at its best. We're very very good friends.'" Tito Boy said. "Ang nakakatawa daw, siya na ang nagbibigay ng payo ngayon kay Joshua: 'Joshua, 'wag ka muna mag-girlfriend. Mag-concentrate ka sa trabaho mo.' Because she sees how passionate and how driven Joshua Garcia is as an actor."
8. Bela Padilla and Neil Arce
Bela Padilla and Neil Arce were together for four years and broke up in early 2017. Now in 2021, they're both happily in love with their respective partners: Bela with her Swiss-Italian boyfriend Norman Bay, and Neil with his longtime-friend-turned-fiancée Angel Locsin. In a recent interview with G3 San Diego, Bela opened up about how Neil and Angel are both mature and that there's absolutely no animosity between her and them. "There's no need for me to cut ties if I don't have to," she stressed. "The showbiz industry in the Philippines is very small. I don't want to avoid going to a certain building because I might run into someone. I hate that feeling. Why would I stress myself like that?" Bela also revealed the reason why she and Neil broke up: "We didn't like each other that way anymore."
Bela has no bad blood with Angel as well and shared that she was even invited to dinner by Angel after they both won awards at an event: "I won best actress for film and she won best actress for TV. So she asked me if I wanted to have dinner after and Dimples [Romana] was there. So parang, alam mo 'yon, it's nice that we are open-minded enough to be friends."
